Is it just me or besides the Taycan/E-tron and Model S, EVs just look dorky?

They all have this lame computer mouse on wheels look. Chunky, no vents/tail pipes, and just awkward overall.

The i4, i7, and now this all look halfway to being SUVs.

Yes, MB cleaned up their "egg on wheels" look very nicely with the new E. I'm definitely leaning toward the new E over the G60 in spite of 12 years of pleasant 5 series ownership.

2024 E class is a good looking vehicle inside and out.

Funny how G60 hp numbers just happen to be exactly that of the new E class 4/6 cylinder(255/375hp).

Exactly why I gave the Lightning to my dad, It's amazing and faster than my old 540i 0-60 and can do all truck things. But driving from Austin to Dallas going at regular TX highway speeds 75-85 cruise control, the range takes a MASSIVE hit. I am so impatient, so I hate waiting even if its just 25-30 minutes to get more charge.

For me, the minimum is 250 miles at 80mph. I will wait for the CLAR platform and batteries to get better before moving to full EV. I would highly recommend most people just do a plug in hybrid as it solves both issues. Most people don't drive more than 50 miles in a day and can charge at home.

Well described. Exactly my thoughts. It looks as if it has been designed by a computer or robot rather than human being. Hood looks like afterthought compared to the rest of the car that is pretty “flat” and uninspiring. It could be that they are trying to make new cars compliant with new emissions standard so they make them as drag coefficient as possible, and that’s the outcome of that. I honestly think that in comparison to BMW’s latest creations it is not as bad as I thought it would be however it is far from good looking vehicle in my book with bunch of unnecessary gizmos inside. The only thing appealing on that interior is steering wheel. The rest is a no no. I am not a big Mercedes person although I own one however IMO design aside MB is making expensively looking interiors at least. BMW is lacking in that department except maybe for new 7 series model, but I would have to be blind to purchase one and that would make it hard to drive one…

Well some more bad news…couple of things I noticed:

1) Comfort seats no longer have that independently adjustable upper backrest
2) no more foldable headrests on the comfort seats
3) trim does not extend to the doors
4) rear seat cup holder are now just holes as opposed to mechanically folding ones
5) leather only available as part of individual spec

The front is... okay, although between this and the X5 facelift I don't get why the designers are constantly expanding the gloss black bumper piece.

And the side profile.... is just not good. It's somehow overstyled and understyled at the same time and WHY ARE WE PAINTING MASSIVE SIDE SKIRTS IN GLOSS BLACK. It makes the car look like it's riding way higher than it is.

Lastly, the interior fit and finish looks nice but pull the logo and there's zero character at all, this could be any car...

Yeah. they gave way to changing lane with your eyes and no touching steering wheel up to 85mph. Progress.

I hope this is just a stage till we get to full EV only, maybe in the next generation. If you get the i5, it's too tall and has weird hood space, etc. If you get the regular 5er, almost the same sacrifices again. An EV sedan should have the proportions of a Tesla Model S/Porsche Taycan...the end!

While the details (grill, gloss black plastic, DRLs) are hit or miss, the main things that bugs me about this design are the FWD-like proportions and the flat sides without a prominent shoulder line. With F10 and G30, the cabin had this set-back look with a long and flat hood. You can see it in the hood profile on the G30, where the hood is almost flat by the time it reaches the windshield. On the G60, the hood is fairly angled all the way up to the windshield cowling, giving that FWD look.

I get that some of it has to do with pedestrian crash safety - I thought the 8 series always suffered from this with an upright front compared to the Fxx 6 series which had a really wide and low profile. The wide fenders and side crease/shoulder line on the Fxx and early Gxx cars added to that muscular look, even on the non-Ms.

While some automakers like Volvo, Acura, Mazda, and even Honda are styling their FWD cars to look more like RWD cars, looks like BMW is doing the opposite here. While the G60 is wider and longer than than the F10/G30, it doesn't really look it...

The interior, on the other hand, is a clear step up. Love the new steering wheel

The outgoing model (lci) is very well designed. Superiors on the outside. I think that the developers had to work really hard to create sth at the same level.

I like the new model, don't get me wrong, but the bar to surpass the G30 lci is too high.

Not exactly the same story for the inside though.

doubt the picture is in the right ratio. obviously the g60 would be longer if the ratio was correct. its 97mm longer than the g30.

I agree with you, mostly.

The interior is great, just like the new 7/i7 series which has no equal on the market.

But the exterior. Like you, the first thing that caught my eyes was that the front looks very much like 2-Series with the M-Sport package. Very boxy, and the headlights are almost a copy.

The side profile is OK.

The rear looks generic, I agree with you here too. And I'm getting a "Mercedes Benz" feel look from the rear!

I think the car could have looked better with a more sleek, angular, design than the boxy look.

Will reserve judgement when seeing the car in person...
