Ah gotcha. We’re definitely talking past each other then, because I’m talking about weight not mattering to a car stopping in a shorter or longer distance, not how old I am. They’re not related, as the fact a car’s weight doesn’t matter to how well it brakes cares none about my age.

Take your M2, mark a point on the road, hit the brakes exactly at that point and stop from 60mph. Mark where the car stopped. Throw in three of your 200pd buddies (and toss one in the trunk if you like) and repeat the test. You will take longer to stop. Hopefully this is in terms you can understand.

This thing quite possible could weigh as much as an Escalade(5,635lbs).
G90 weighs 2435 or 5,357lbs. The G81 Touring added 85kg over the G80. Using a conservtive 100kg added to M5, could be looking at 5,577lbs for M5 Touring. 58lbs from being an Escalade 6.2L. Last edited by M3WC; 04-05-2024 at 01:08 PM.. |

If the prices track what the RS6 has done, I would be surprised if it’s not heavily marked up for a while.

Glad i put my name down with BMW for this when the rumor mill started a year ago.
The AWD M5 Touring will be a perfect stablemate for my F81!

I'm tempted to drop a deposit to get on the list and assess as Q4 comes. I've been holding onto my low mileage F80 for something fun to trade into, and this might be it.
But if my spec ends up being closer to $150-170k, then might as well go GT3 shopping instead. :P

The US roads are used to whales being on them, so this is no different.
Also, the RS6 will still look better and have a better interior this is a fact. But cool.

A car with its original tires will take longer to stop when loaded. The M5 doesn’t have the same tires a car 600lbs lighter does. |

Anyone who signed the petition to get a G80 touring for the US should be the first ones signing for an allocation for this.
Prove that you actually want a touring since it’s an extremely niche market for the car in today’s world. |

Wagon owners are often outdoor enthusiasts, campers, or road trippers like me. I have rented wagons in Germany for 30 years. Now in the USA, they ONLY bring the M version over. Why do I want a wagon that is low to the ground and stiff on rougher roads. Bring a normal wagon over and I will buy it. Also not 6,000 pounds. I love the 3 wagon personally. Or bring over a normal 5 avant. We don't all want M sport.
