That’s because you gave him a bs reply, as if weight played a part in stopping…

The lightest cars don’t stop sooner, and the heaviest cars don’t stop later.

But the heaviest cars can stop sooner. And can be quicker. So, he’s right, who cares… only those who can feel the weight difference in spirited driving. Which isn’t the majority of people. Most will enjoy as we’ve been enjoying heavy cars forever now.

I just want an i5 touring. Maybe this is the first step. That would be a great replacement for my iX when the lease is up in 3 years.

I can hope.

It’s highly problematic. The 48v generator will fail at some point. Audi refuses to make it a service bulletin. When it goes you’ll receive a Christmas tree of faults and the car will just shut down. I have 11K on it. Will likely happen between now and 25K miles. Due to this I can’t take the car on long distance trips. Also, it usually takes weeks to fix. Google it if you’re bored.

Other than that it’s probably the most favorite car of mine I’ve ever owned. Truly unique. 👍🏾

Ive been buying cars through him for the last 20+ years. He got the joke. There just isn’t a sarcasm font for the internet.

I feel you. And I understand the showroom floor banter you’re referring to. My sales guy tells me all about how he dislikes some of the new models as well…

Got the sarcasm

I had this realization years ago...BMW salespeople don't care for the opinions of enthusiasts. Most haven't even worked at the company more than a handful of years. Their objective is to sell you a car here and now.

They are not enthusiasts. Occasionally you run into the old timer who's been there 30 years and is, but generally no.

You put the same brakes and tires on a lighter car it’ll stop in a shorter distance than the heavier car. What are you talking about?

So the M5 has the brakes of a 520? That’s news to me.

But I’d take your guess and say that it’s probably because the 520 brakes were oversized as normal, and able to lock up the wheels on the M5 as well, making it a non issue

Canada is getting it too.

BMW Canada has been doing some amateur promotion of the car using the same veiled photo as the OP, emailing customers (I got an email) and blasting Facebook ads asking people to “sign the petition” to bring it to Canada lol

That is a marketing ploy, where customers are made to feel they “had a say” and “played a part” in bringing the car, when it does come. Silly, but it shows the car is coming.

I’m talking about physics and about 35 years lapping cars.
