Yes, the new M5 will be heavier, longer, and wider than the F90 M5 and that for me may be a bridge too far.

No doubt it will be an incredible drivers machine again. Much magic stuff needed when this needs to eclipse the F90 though. When you calculate the performance over weight, the F90 has the edge.

Only cars worth buying and keeping are the CS/ F generation and the E9X M3 generation so forth. Skip this stupid generation of hybrid technology, and just wait for new class.
You think the new gen is going to have less hybrid technology?

Do it! Also Google the red hot brakes on those pig heavy Formula 1 cars… those monstrosities weigh 1,500 lbs, they don’t have any wind holding them down and they need a lot of brake, so their brakes glow red hot. Unfortunately that’s the reality with heavy ass cars and how their brakes are under dimensioned…

Not my words above but very relevant. I’m also tired of threads going down those paths. Everyone should feel free to voice their subjective thoughts on these magnificent machines and then spend time clarifying/debating the objective statements. You shouldn’t care if I like the F90 design better than what I’ve seen so far with the G. Just like I respect and am curious as to why BMW is taking this new design course and many like it. I’ve been contributing less frequently on here due to those same/few individuals that want to argue if a white car is a better color than a blue car. And when there is a difference of opinion…watch out. Fortunately there are still a lot of incredibly helpful exchanges. Let’s keep coming back and doing our best to ignore that other noise.

Tires change with every oil change is going to be the norm on this car.

Tires are made of rubber which comes out of trees so they are technically vegan. You will be saving the environment even more if you use more tires 😜

Who are these "boomers" you are talking about? I mean take a poll, is anyone here in their 60s?

The term "boomers" has been made derogatory by some anxious doomscrolling niche-bitch-crowd on forums who resent everyone who dares to complain, and BMW sure has been producing some lets say polarising products, followed up by some cringe / woke marketing efforts. So people around forums last 20 years are understandably commenting on things they dont like. Why it bothers some bros here who call anyone older "boomers" without knowing what that term even means is ...beyond me.

Like that guy who says "you destroyed the world for future generations". These blamey attitudes can get fucked, they do nothing good. And people driving any kind of change to environment isnt new, since like 60s people have been trying to solve certain issues, some take longer, some faster. I cant fucking stand this that every time someone complains its "you boomers" addressed usually at some early millenial. Just smh. Youre not any better than people you complain about. So stop it.

Just enjoy the cars!

If you’re just tuning in:

People concerned about weight (who cares lol)

People mad V8 is quiet. Europe is failing us eventhough trying to save the penguins.

People hate boomers.

People learning why brakes glow red.

People using boomers incorrectly and then Guy telling “you don’t know me!”

Another dude saying play nice (I agree.)

Anyways I love everyone’s passion for these cars and BMW. LFG baby. Sick car excited for the final thing. Are we confirmed for M3 LCI and M5 G90 debut July this year right?

On the red hot brake issue, does anyone know if there is regen going on also to recoup the battery? I would assume so, but this could be part of what we’re seeing here…?

My use of boomer is directed at those on here who don’t take the time to educate themselves as to why BMW MUST make this kind of car because car companies have no choice other than to stop making any car. If a person can’t understand that and appreciate the fact that BMW is doing the absolute best with what current technology seems possible, than those people can keep their opinions to themselves because it’s not based on anything other than ignorance.
And exactly to that point…
Let’s not ignore the use of the term “woke” here. Do we know what that means? It is derived from the understanding of being educated and awake to reality, rather than sleeping through it and being ignorant. So yes, I’m woke. If your understanding of the term is something different, I’m sorry to be the one to tell you otherwise, but it’s true.
I'am glad that you know all this is true and that you know that BMW is doing the right stuff.

When you regenerate, you need less braking on the rotors. That they lite up is not any indication of anything, except maybe that they run "hot" under these circumstances.

Exactly. AND you are also operating with a lot less power to haul that dead weight. I’d rather have a full ICE car with full ICE power whatever that may be.

Now, when technology evolves to make an electric car weigh significantly less with greater range and a charging infrastructure that can handle large numbers of electric cars then I’ll be really interested in trying an electric car. I think electric cars will eventually get to a point most of all of us like them, but we just aren’t there yet.
