Yes that was my first thought as well but I can’t with certainty remember the prior gen run. Also they’re still working everything out not like it’s a final product so things can change.

There will be an exhaust button labeled 'Merica which will unleash the V8 sound.

Agreed! This thing is going to blow us away with stats such as 0-60, a good balance between comfort and sportiness in regards to handling, and interior creature comforts. If you want a true sports car that is MORE geared towards the track looks like its M2, M3 and M4 now. Regardless Im sure this will sell like hot cakes!

Not new... we just praise the driver for pushing it when it's a full ICE car... put a battery in there and it's just too heavy.

It’s seems like the exhaust is quiter compared to previous models watching the front right wheel hit those apexes and seeing the suspension in action is mesmerizing. The tires definitely play a crucial role in handling which the new engine might also have some role to play in it. It’s pretty amazing how quiet vehicles can be and it’s all about that smooth silent ride. Either way, it’s interesting to see how things have evolved!

Pretty sure you can drive an e-Ray on battery only, one of the features they touted iirc

it has a 1kwH battery (about the capacity of a 12V lead acid battery), that will be like a few miles

Looks like they quote “3-4 miles and up to 45 mph.” I was curious and looked up the 296, that can actually be driven electric only too, up to 16 miles. Could run errands with that target run anyone?

eray = mild hybrid
296 = milder hybrid

run errands assuming battery magically full by moonlighting, no AC, crawl & don't accelerate the car, doesn't degrade like the iphone ....
best used to evade neighbours and cops and hope they don't follow u (assuming the battery is magically full and has not been used for the quarter mile drag torque fill recently, not degraded)

my issue with PHEV is once you empty the battery you are using 99% ICE (1% regen perhaps) and hauling dead weight which affects both acceleration and cornering (and braking)

Don't get why everyone is comparing it with M3 or M4. It was always more sporty, lighter and lower class car. M5 is sporty business class sedan (it was).

And yes all cars are growing in size and weight. Somehow I like it how it looks. And yeah looks heavy, sound minimal, but those are only test mules.

So far so good. Waiting for reveal.

Why is the weight such an issue for so many? Everybody drives M5s like that?
