Battery questions

Not sure if anyone has any insight on the functionality of the battery on the new M5 as its obviously not available yet. But knowing the answers to the below questions will help me make a decision on whether to get this car next or not.

1. Once the battery dies, will the car no longer perform to the max compared to when the battery is fully charged?

2. If you don't drive in electric mode only, will the hybrid system keep the battery fully charged?

3. If the battery is dead, will putting the car into hybrid mode charge the battery while driving?

4. I read/watched some bad reviews of the electrified transmission on the XM. Does anyone know if BMW made improvements for the M5?

I’d assume it’s going to work like an XM or a 550e - might be worth browsing/asking in those forums?

1) the hybrid drive system won’t allow the HV battery to be completely depleted.

2) Yes, not to 100%, but will keep the SoC high enough to use/provide electric motor support

3) See #1 - the BMS won’t allow the HV pack to deplete to 0% SoC - The ICE will keep the HV pack charged

4) I hope so… i wasn’t impressed with the XM at all… my hope is they’ve tweaked things since that platform has been out about a year

Cheers!
