Respectfully disagree. Cameras alone won’t solve the autonomous drive problem as not everywhere is well lit eg think foggy day. Will always be mixed for the best and safest implementations. You then have to add the machine learning challenges behind any system given how probe they are to failure in situations they have not been trained in. A year or two ago colleagues were active in this area and even changing a few pixels in an image can cause false identification.

In all seriousness, the Accord has a much better looking front end than this rendering shows.

I am sorry to say but none of the designs since since the reveal of the new 4 series, m3, and m4 have been elegant. BMW just lost their mind on what cohesive aesthetic is. Sure it's in your face bold, but is it in a pleasing way ; I beg to differ.

Say hello to the all-new BMW M5… Well, kind of!

Our in-house team of experts has created video footage of what we think the all-new M5 will look like, and based on past experience like with our render of the Lamborghini Revuelto, we’re pretty confident that these early impressions are on the money!

But how did our team come to this conclusion? Well for starters, let’s go back to the beginning. When you look at old M5s, they remained pretty similar to the standard 5 Series. But over the years, the M5s have strayed further and further away from the normal car, with the latest M5s coming with crazy bodykits, massive wheels, and of course, quad tailpipes.

So we’re expecting BMW to continue and intensify this trend for the new M5! We’re expecting it to come with a redesigned front bumper, a massive air intake up front (similar to the new M2) along with a new splitter. There will probably also be widened wheel arches, updated suspension, and a massive diffuser around the back flanked by a pair of dual exhausts.

Here’s the thing though, we know that the new M5 is set to be a hybrid, and we know it’ll come equipped with the 197hp motor from the XM. But thankfully, it’s still going to be packing a full-fat 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet! And to ensure the extra weight brought in by the battery & motor doesn’t impact performance, we have a feeling the power output could be considerably increased - to over 820hp, making it the fastest BMW road car of all time!!

But how can we be so sure? You’ll need to stick with Mat and see for yourself!

A face only a mother could love… even if its 800 hp

Sure, autonomous driving systems require different inputs at longer distances, and yes cameras have better resolution and more data throughput, but tossing radar altogether was a HUGE mistake on Tesla’s part… the cameras and vision processing just aren’t there yet.
That’s odd- they use sonar parking sensors. I’m talking about the radar based vs camera on the autopilot vs driver pro.

Good points

I’ve read too that driver input is also part of the reason full self drive isn’t working. Human interaction ruins things

I am open to new designs, Hey I bought the G82 and love the look including the grill.

However WTF is that front end. BMW are clearly trying to win first place in some environmental degregation award.

If this design is right then I am out. Personal opinion of course and looks are totally subjective.

Like all current generation M cars imo…a step forward in engineering & a step sideways/backward in design.

Despite what some of the negative Nanci's may say, I think it's a very sexy new M5. Of course this is subjective (the looks) but that ugly front grill is an easy fix. As long as this car doesn't weigh too much, I think it's going to easily knock the competition out of the park in every regard. Can't wait to see the production version soon...

Dont hate it, dont love it. But boy did I hate the G80 when it came out, loving it now. So not gonna judge the car until I see it in reality. Interestingly when reading through comments, not much middle ground same as G80, you either love it or hate it. Nobody gives it a "meh"

However, the part I dislike the most in this generation are the rear lights. I dont like the X4 and X6 rear, it looks incomplete and not cohesive at all.
