From the information that can be found to date the 540 xDrive appears to be exclusive to North America.

Are any 6 cylinders coming to the EU/U.K.?

I know manufacturers are under pressure to produce more EVs year by year to reduce their average co2 output .
Presumably why they have launched the g60 with emphasis on the electric models first

For first time ever the US gets a model the Europeans want instead of the reverse.

Second time. We never got the m550 in the U.K. until the LCI arrived re the g30

But yeh i get the I oresssion that the ever increasing war on emisssions is more determined in EU land than the US

Traditionally the US has had larger engines than Europe

There is however. Pre pushback I’m hearing on this now
I think Germany are pushing to move the ban on new ICE cars from 2030 to 2035
The U.K. ban on new ICE is 2030 but again there is mounting pushback on that and general anti car measures in place in the U.K.

I think if you want a ICE g60 ineurope, you are limited , at least now in comparison to what was offered in the g30

The M550e which is being released spring 24 has six pots with an increased battery over the 545e that I have. I think I'll wait for this until then. Not at all impressed with the i5 edrive 40 and the i5M60 is way overpriced for what it truly is. IMO.

If they only got the base i5 down to the $50ks range, I may be interested. I think it would go gangbusters here because there’s nothing else that can compete with that much luxury and range atm. But no. Thanks BMW.

Wondering- will the 540i Xdrive get the less dramatic non m sport look? I sort of like the base 530 . Less shiny black plastic.

Is it official there will be no M550?

I'm assuming the 550e will have the powertrain of the X5 50e.

Side note:
Surprised the bump from the 530 to 540 is only $4700. It's closer to 7k for the current gen.

It is official according to me. V8 is now M5 only, and the only M Performance car is i5 M60.

M Sport is only standard on i5 M60. All other models have it as an option.

BEV are simply a business loser. They only survive because of government regulation and/or subsidies. It won’t last.

Yes.

Do you think the m560e will still happen or are they capping off at the 550e as they are too similar?
