I was already impressed with the combined EPA rating of 28 mpg but this is simply nuts from an engine with this power. For comparison my previous G30 540xi got 26.8 mpg overall.
And the accompanying picture includes a roughly equal amount of time in city and highway traffic. To be fair, I've been pretty easy on the throttle during the break-in period but this is really just crazy.

That is quite good. I was lucky to get 23 with my last car.

It's not for nothing that the B58 is one of the best production engines in the world.





I'm also quite happy with the small motor. Currently I'm around 40 mpg.

I only have the B48 engine. But it is also very economical.
Here are my details of a typical trip from home to the Berlin office.





The range after refueling:



5,8 l/100 km = 40 mpg
37 km = 23 miles
1041 km = 647 miles

I'm used to electrified cars so this seems high consumption to me, but I'm happy to see that you're getting better mileage from the "same" engine!

That makes me very hopeful for the 550e; my current overall consumption with my PHEV is 5.9l/100km and since fuel in a PHEV is wasted mostly on the highway, I'm even hopeful that with this new B58 and its lower profile the 550e would get me even better results!
