i5 M60 at the Port — But stop sale

My i5 M60 arrived at the port last Friday, which I figured would mean delivery this week.

I was told this am there is a stop sale for a recall related to the receiver audio module.

Anyone else hearing this or am I just lucky?

Thanks.

Thanks for the heads up. My vehicle gets into port in 3 days. I will check with my SA.

Hello Mike. Although my i5 was not caught in a stop sale, maybe it should have been. Consider the second fault I describe here:

If that was just a software update, it shouldn’t take too long at the VPC.

Mine has been "at port" since 11/21, wonder if this is why.

I checked my VIN against BMW’s open recall page and nothing came up. Have you called the genius line?

A quick Internet search reveals that the remote audio module (RAM) has been an issue before. What exactly is the issue with the i5? Is it missing like it was in other cars? Or is it defective? Either way, my understanding is that it relates to the audio system, so why would it prevent delivery/sales?

Thank you for this.

I just checked my i5 VIN at NHTSA and found no unrepaired recalls. Whew!

The audio system is used for many safety-related functions, from notifications to telephony to PDC. That could be why.

My current M440i had a stop sale for the RAM, but that was a missing physical component. They shipped the cars then added the amp at the VPC.

My M60 is stuck at "Awaiting Carrier Assignment" for more than a week. I wonder if it's to take care of this software update before they load them up...

Mine got delivered to the dealership on 12/8, was supposed to pick it up 12/9 and that’s when the stop sale happened. Do you know if this stop sale is due to missing piece or software update?

Sorry for all of you who have to wait to pick up your cars. That has to be painful.

Just had my dealer. They haven’t heard back from BMW AG but they will do a “reprog” tomorrow. Not sure what that means, I don’t have a lot of hopes that they fix this by EOW.

Let’s see..

Anyone know if this is a parts issue or a software issue?

I was supposed to pick up my i5 this week and also got the notice of the stop sale due to the RAM. My dealer didn't know if it was hardware or software. Ostensibly, he called BMW and they also couldn't tell him the nature of the problem or when a fix was expected.

BTW, I don't think this type of issue will show up as a recall when searching by VIN. My car has a stop sale and shows no recalls by VIN.

I was told the exact same thing today. My car is sitting in the dealer lot and I can’t buy it.

They’re saying when the car goes in reverse, it’s supposed to make a warning sound. But it’s not making the sound

Some chatter on Facebook that they are expecting resolution for delivery before year end (which would make sense, given they are going to want these cars delivered for year end numbers). But, nothing official from BMW yet.

My lease extension is up 12/20. Don’t really feel like paying another lease payment for maybe (hopefully?) a week or two more with the M550.

Again, an inauspicious start.

Was going to take delivery last night, but....

I have a unique situation. I have a "buy back" situation and must take delivery of a "replacement" car by the end of the year. The means the car has to be on the dealer lot, and in my possession by 12/31. I am looking at a i5 M60 pro ($95K), and when we looked at the stop sale, we see it is part of it. Now the question will be can it get rectified in time? If not i have to move on, and that makes me sad. I really liked the car.

I also was due to pick up my I5 M60 last saturday, but was advised there is a stop sale that has to be resolved. I have yet to see an ETA on when the issue is to be resolved.
