Under these current lease terms, a standard monthly-pay lease is most advantageous, coupled with $0 cap cost reduction. The only "safe" monies upfront are MSDs, as they will be refunded at end of lease or in a Total Loss scenario.

I went back to my dealer and asked where the return of payments was confirmed in the contract and he said it's not written there but I should call BMW financial next week. I will see what they have to say. Obviously with nothing in writing, cannot assume they return what would have been unused payments in a total loss.
I am hopeful that there is some rider or specific language on a website they will point me to for one pay leases. The main finance contract dealer sent me really does not contemplate a single pay lease. |

My dealer wouldn’t budge off MSRP, but I did get retail black book on my trade, which reduces my tax liability the same amount as dollars off. I’m not eligible for government rebates, so I’m not leasing.

If you lease, your eligibility is irrelevant. BMW owns the car commercially and they get to take the $7500 tax benefit. BMW is now passing that benefit to you. So car is effectively $7500 cheaper as long as you lease and dont buy. That is why i am leasing, and i have never leased a car before

If you live in a state where tax is assessed only on the monthly payments, you could lease it, wait a few months, and then just immediately buy it out to reap maybe 6000 worth of that 7500 credit.

Please Note: Check with your dealer about this first. My dealer did not honor this deal or any other incentives. It’s only acknowledged by participating dealerships. Wish I knew that before I chose the destination.

Have you verified those discounts and/or gotten your car yet? When I got my car three weeks ago, the $3500 had been replaced with the $7500 rebate - the two were not compatible. If you are getting both, the $3500 comes directly from your dealer because BMW Finance i not offering it (their program is national, not regional or dealer level),

So far the dealer has run a credit report on me. And sent me a PDF of these numbers.. I don't know how to upload a file or image on this forum to show.. at this point even if he changes things I will be leasing the vehicle..

my BMW dealer offered me $2,500 before I even asked. they said it was to show their appreciation for buying another BMW from them within 6 months.(bought X1 in April) The manager said it was a discount reserved for "special" customers.
I can't help but be suspicious. They are the largest BMW dealer in my state, by the number of units sold each year. What incentive do they have to offer me $2500 off like that? Since that's a starting point, am I better off by negotiating an even bigger discount off MSRP? Perhaps $3000, $4000 or more discount? Or am I just dreaming? |
