Found this on the XM forum. Updated app version with some new functionality including open/close windows when in Digital Key Plus range.

It has been a while since I have had a My BMW update in the iOS store.

Can anyone confirm if you can remote start the AC over the phone app on the full hybrid.

I downloaded it but haven’t been able to figure out the windows down feature. It’s not showing on mine.

I have a 520i and control my auxiliary heater with the app.

On our plug in hybrid 2017 X5 40e, 740e, 2022 530e and now XM...you can remote climate, but ONLY when the battery has sufficient charge :/ If the battery is low, you cannot send a remote climate command.

When I had a plug in hybrid Full Size Range Rover...if the battery was low or empty, I could still remote start the ICE and get the air or heat going. For some reason BMW does not allow this on plug in hybrids, but BMW allows remote start engine for ICE. Strange!

It showed up for me, maybe only when I get near the car, under Remote Services.

Yes you have to be in close proximity to the vehicle.

the new update added comfort open and close for your windows must have Digital key plus works great

I saw the update and installed it but I don't see how windows can be opened and/or closed through the MyBMW app.

Can anyone point out how to access this updated functionality?

You must be basically right next to the car, and then this option appears in the same area as the remote control parking option in the app.

Oh, OK. Not sure what real use this has then, because if I have to be that close to the vehicle I might as well hop in and close the windows myself.

Not really seeing when doing this through the app would ever come in handy if I'm basically right by the car in the first place.

Very true. I’m not sure exactly how close one must be. I did see the option on the app today when I was upstairs from the garage. I’ll didn’t try it to see if it would work, though.

Where did you see that option in the app? If you could post a screenshot perhaps, that would be helpful. I don't see window opening/closing anywhere in the app on my phone.

I'm not close enough to it right now to have the option appear. It appears under the "remote services" section and is labeled as comfort access. Touching the comfort access button opens another screen to open or close all the windows. You can't choose which windows but can only open or close all of them.
