I've had my car for about month, and on a handful of occasions, I've walked behind the rear of my car and the trunk has opened. Typically the "swipe your leg underneath the bumper" method was the most inconsistent and frustrating features of the last decade, but jokingly this feels like a real overcorrection.

Anyone else getting this?

1x this has happened to me in 2 months of ownership. Never happened in my iX or i4 however, and they also had this trunk "feature".

I’ve had it happen once or twice - I haven’t quite got the right “open sesame” maneuver down yet.

Yup, Happens to me almost every night when I get home and walk behind car to plug in. Not a problem because I grab my bag from the trunk every night. It does say in the manual that this can occur too.

Opening and closing the cargo area contactless
Principle
You can open the cargo area contactless
when carrying the vehicle key on your person.
With automatic tailgate activation, the cargo
area can also be closed contactless.
The sensors detect a forward-directed or side
foot movement in the central rear area and the
cargo area is opened or closed.
General information
Function availability depends on vehicle equipment and national-market version.
If the vehicle key is within the sensor range, the
cargo area may open or close inadvertently if
you unintentionally move your foot or if a foot
movement is detected.
The sensor has an approximate range of
5 ft/1.50 m extending from the rear area.
