Is it my imagination or have there been a huge number of recalls already?
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com It seems that BMW may have rushed this to market because there are clearly myriad issues that are popping up. I certainly hope this is not an indication of the G60's long term reliability because if it is, that'll be a real problem for those of us who buy at least. My G30 540i was just a few weeks old when it was recalled due to a defective crankshaft sensor. I was currently on vacation in the Harz Mountains and had to go to the local dealer.
That definitely won't happen to me with the G60. |

I had the problems that affected a lot of cars. A stop sale at the Oxnard VDC for a software fix of the External Sound Generator. Then right before release, it got stopped again for the Coolant Changeover Valve issue. That's a small hardware part, and the leak "might" occur if the car deep-freezes below 19 degrees. So I signed the waiver to release the car and the issue is in my file and the valve will be checked at each regular service. Other problems I've heard of are weird one-offs, like squeaky wipers. |

Well I just got another that's going to be screwing up my delivery - something about a rear child seat anchor, or something like that. I don't have any young kids and I doubt any will be riding in the back of my 540xi in the foreseeable future. And yet my understanding is that they will not release the car until this is remedied - something they don't have a fix for at this time.
When I got my F10 in 2011 and my G30 in 2017 I didn't have to have any recalls addressed. Now issues seem to be coming out every few days. It really does make me wonder if BMW did their due diligence before releasing these cars for sale. I sincerely hope I'm wrong but.... |
