Jack For Lowered Cars

Could somebody that actually owns a jack that works well with lowered cars please recommend a jack to buy ? I don't want to work under the car. Just high enough to change wheels at home. And bonus points for something small, compact. Thanks.

If you're looking for something to just swap out wheels, check out the Daytona 1.5 ton low profile/low weight (only 36lbs) from harbor freight. (I know HF doesn't have the greatest reputation but the daytona jacks are pretty good, at least in my experience).

I bought this CAT 3-ton low-profile jack from a local place called Princess Auto, paid $299 CAD for it. It is long and low enough to get to the front and rear center jack points on my M2, at stock height. Would probably need to put a couple of wood boards down to get the car up a bit if it was lowered.

My car has M-Sport suspension lowered 10 mm compared to basic. That makes 135 mm of ground clearance as I recall.

I started with this OEM kit: https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1840053. It turned out a complete piece of shit (this may be why they don't offer it any longer). The jack, in particular, withstood only a few (it looks like 4!) seasonal wheel changes (no overloads!): the plastic bushing gave up (when lowering the car after the last wheel was changed ).

So I bought PITTSBURGH AUTOMOTIVE 1.5 Ton Low-Profile Aluminum Racing Floor Jack, 60569 (min. height 3-1/2", max. height 14-1/8") in 2015 and I am using it since, twice a year. I am very happy with it.

i also use the daytona long reach and i recommend it, but if all you want to do is lift one corner at a time, high enough to change wheels you don't need that. you also don't need the $300 ultra-low profile model, i would just get the regular aluminum low-profile daytona model for ~ $130, it's low enough and it's also only 32 lbs. this one https://www.harborfreight.com/automo...ump-58206.html

If anyone in the Tri State NY area is interested in a AC Hydraulic DK13HLQ, I one one new FS.

That Harbor Freight Bruzenhoil style aluminum jack is nice - maybe for jack points - not sure if it's low and long enough to reach the center jack point on lowered car

I guess it depends on your exact car. To reach my center point on my lowered E92 with a lip, I need to bring the car on low profile ramps then jack the front side point with another jack to then reach the central jack point. And that's why my low profile long reach jack.

But yeah as someone mentioned, depends on how you want to do this. Jack one corner at a time? Or do it "properly" with jack stands one axle or all 4 at a time?

Lift from the rear, place axle stand on the front. Then repeat same for the rear.

Can't have all 4 axle stands at the same time but no need for any ramps or other accessories.

So you work at the front and then move to the rear.

I've been contemplating getting ramps and an extra jack but all in it worked out around £400 + 1 week to deliver and my Intrax 1k2 has just arrived so sod it, I'll do it with what I got.

Is there any way to safely remove the wheels on these things without a floor jack? I absolutely do not have the space for one, but not being able to really clean my wheels and calipers is driving me crazy.

What do you mean? How are you going to raise the car and remove the wheels without a jack/lift?

But once you lift a corner of the car up with the scissor jack, how are you supposed to get it onto a jack stand?

Ahhh mb lol. I didn't realise you meant like scissor vs wheeled jacks.

But yeah if you use a scissor jack you can't really place a stand at the jack point. Instead you can find a spot on the subframe or suspension

When they use the professional car lifts they don't seem to target the plastic jack receivers with the lift's paws. I reckon/recall they place the paws next to the points, farther from the wheels.
