Question Sport Mode = extra HP?

from Road and Track Oct 1 '23 Review:

"The rear-wheel-drive i5 eDrive40's single motor puts out 308 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque—unless it's in Sport mode, where horsepower rises to 335."

I drive an X5 and had a 435i before that and while Sport mode definitely felt more responsive due to the shifting at different rev levels, I didn't realize there was actual HP gains...

Similar on the iX. Maximum HP is only available in sport mode. Maximum torque is available in launch control mode.
