Anyone in a warm climate have any feedback on the car's A/C
Both the F10 and G30 had A/C's that were just passable (at best) in really warm weather. I'm hoping that with the G60 they've gotten this sorted out properly. It's pretty cool here in NYC so there's no way to really test this out so I was hoping to get some feedback from anyone in a warmer climate.
TIA. |

My 2022 G30 5 Series had great A/C.
My last few X5s had dismal A/C. iX has pretty good A/C. My current '24 5 Series has GREAT A/C. I am impressed with it. The few times it was parked in baking sun, and the interior was easily 110F, the A/C (AUTO 70F) went to work immediately and cooled the cabin very quickly. Also, my new 5 Series is the first BMW ever where the ventilated seats actually feel like cooled seats! I am impressed! |

I have not used the AC yet really—one day in the 60s here in Upstate New York and it seemed just fine. Agree that the ventilated seats appear to do more than prior iterations.

The early G30s did have a pretty weak A/C, even after the few fixes they implemented. My G05 X5 had excellent A/C. Given I have the i5, I can imagine using the preconditioning much more not having to worry about exhaust gases.
Something I noticed that's probably related to the "dripping" noise that people have heard. I know that it was surmised it was related to condensation. When the A/C has been running a little here and there with some warmer days, I get a musty smell. If that is condensation dripping, it makes sense. So hopefully a service bulletin is released for that soon. Agree that I felt that the ventilated seats seemed to be more pronounced. I've had ventilated seats in my last few BMWs and it was always underwhelming. |

100% agree on seat ventilation comment. Finally, I can actually feel it.
I was blown away (pun intended) when I first tried it in G60. I guess BMW listened. |

I think the heating and cooling in the i5 cars are done with a heat pump system, so the A/C is probably better than the older cars which probably did not use the same type of system.

It will be a few months before I can try the A/C. My son uses the ventilated seats now and says they are great. Yes, it is 40 degrees out and he wants his seat cooled.

One important note: the glass knob got hot with the sun directly on it while I was driving. I ended up covering it with my right hand for the rest of the drive. |

Whew! It was warm today. 84F once I got the car moving.
It was 94F when I got in the car. Air conditioning worked quickly and not loudly. Ventilated seats came on and I was comfortable about a mile into my drive to the car wash. Tree pollen level is very high. Ugh the attachments tool is a pain.I can’t upload the second photo. I’ll try after dinner. Last edited by Nighthawks; 03-15-2024 at 09:35 PM.. |

71F today with showers. I had left the temperature at 68F and changed it to 71F. The ventilated seats turned on and it felt a little chilly on my back.

I had one of the earlier G30s delivered, and I can confirm that the A/C was very weak. Even in Germany taking delivery on a European Delivery, I remember it just feeling kind of hot, like it wasn't responding to solar gain properly. They did apply some fixes and it got better. When that lease ended and I got a G05 X5, that was significantly better.

I have a 2019 pre-LCI. No complaints. And mine was produced by Styer Austria not Dingolfing, which really worried me when it was in production. Not a problem though.

How is it in cooling quickly after a day in the sun? Where I work in SE VA, the parking lot is not shaded at all. It sucks leaving and trying to get cooled down in July and August. I would love to start it up to get ventilated as I walk out, but phones are not allowed in the building. That will change when I move on from my current job in a year though.

How are you getting on with the new vent adjusters? I fiddled with them a bit on my test drive last week. Not really that easy to use. Any issues orienting the vents with gloves on in cold weather?

I have had dozens of Bimmers, and only 3 had awful A/C (so bad, it was the reason for selling). 2017 X5 40e 2017 X5 35d 2006 330i! The A/C was so weak, that you would actually sweat whilst driving. |

The car will have the car heated or cooled when you get to it. I do this each day when I park for work, since our cell service and WiFi is dismal, and a climate command via the app will fail most times. |

I will say, at least BMW lets you manually (kind of) adjust the hidden vents, and does not make you go into a menu like Tesla and the Taycan (beyond frustrating and annoying). |
