No temperature adjustment for dash vents?

I test drove a 540iX Msport over the weekend and spent a little more time with it than the 530i a few weeks ago. One thing I specifically looked for is the temperature adjustment for the dash vents. Neither I nor the CA could find it in idrive. In my G30 you press the Menu button in the climate control then adjust in idrive. In older BMW’s this was a dial on the vent ranging from blue (cold) to red (warm) independent of the auto temperature adjustment. Is it missing on the G60?

There is a setting in iDrive to adjust the footwell temperature, but nothing to adjust the air temperature from a specific vent. What would this be used for since there are dual or four zone climate control temperature settings?

I think I know what you are talking about, and I don't think the G60 has it. It is explained in general in an older model in this video below at around the 15 second point.

The concept is most easily understood when you are a long drive and have the heat on but want cool air on your face to keep you alert/awake. However in 30 years of BMW ownership I’ve used this in every season to make it colder or warmer depending on need.

Hope it’s there and just a bit hidden in the menu. If not, this and several other gripes are adding up to be a pass on the G60. This is yet another feature that has made BMWs unique and a better driver’s car than the competition for decades.

I’ve been through the climate menu pretty thoroughly, and I don’t see anything like this. Nothing is mentioned about this in the manual either.

Sadly it's not there and I have to admit that I miss it. But the overall climate control in this car is really superb. Pretty much just set it and forget it.

I have never had separate temperatures controls to dial in temps for feet vs face. I’ve owned other luxury brands. Maybe it was unique to BMW and they just decided to scrap it since no one else bothered.

Perhaps that was the thinking. But it was nice having the option to direct cool or warm air to your face and upper body independent of the overall climate control.
A first world problem to be sure, but nonetheless....

It is a very useful feature and makes BMW stand out in the luxury market, like their driving dynamics. Of course you wouldn’t miss it if you never had it, but scraping it just because no one else bothers is hardly a good reason.

Exactly. It’s like a sunroof or soft leather comfort seats for me. Once you have it you’re never going without it on future cars (unless it’s a Ferrari or GT3 RS, but you get my drift). Everyone has something like that in their requirements, whether it’s a car or something else.

I didn’t see a way to do that.

I did have to turn off the ventilated seat a few times today. Too cold on my back.

I tried to find it but couldn’t. I did land on this feature where you can subtract air flow to different zones

1. Click fan
2. Click airflow

I always felt the hot/cold dial on the vents was redundant and counter-intuitive to setting a temperature centrally. Just a different POV, but I understand the rationale why some people liked it.

Thanks. We found that too but changing airflow isn’t the same as changing temperature.

100% Been driving BMW since the late 80s/early 90s...and the hot/cold dial on the vents was always really "odd" to me, and I never liked, nor used it. But, it seems some miss is. If we were all the same, how boring life would be

On my old 328i I hardly ever adjusted the temperature. Instead, I often used the dial to quickly adjust. Cold on a sunny day, Hot on a cold evening, or somewhere in between. Instant gratification and super fast to adjust.

The i5 seems much smarter, and I never adjust anything now.
