Autocar always puts garbage renderings for clicks. I wouldn't place any value in it.

Anyhow, the G30 is very cleanly styled so I'm not sure what else BMW can do with it but go in a new direction. The 5-series has lost a lot of relevance unfortunately. The 3er has grown in size, X5 has become more popular, 8-series is better looking, and the 5er lost all the sportiness it possessed during the days of the E39 and E60.

Nice car but it doesn't really have a place in the market anymore.

I sometimes wonder where they pull these renders from especially when reality does not match the fantasy.
Maybe this might be the 6er GT replacement in appearance but it's not the new 5. We have already seen the evidence that it's not.

I was thinking the same, 750 isn’t going to be competitive and for sure they won’t come in lighter than the others. That ship sailed with the i3 and i8. A quick googling tells me the i4 M50 will be ~800lbs heavier than the Model 3 Perf, I hope that ends up being wrong but I doubt it.

I think they’ve been put in a difficult spot with model hierarchy etc. The next gas/hybrid M5 will not be making 1000+ hp, like I would bet my wife on that. I don’t think they would let any “i5 M” or whatever make more power, or at least be faster than the M5. Kind of like how (according to spec sheets) the i4 M50 just happens to match the M3C to 60 at 3.9, despite having awd, no transmission and instant torque. Fast enough sure, but that sense they’re artificially holding it back sure is tingling

Is it going to have the split headlights like the X8 and upcoming 7er?

Man at this rate im gonna ride my F30 340i until it breaks down ... then get an audi or porsche.

I'm not feeling what bmw is doing AT ALL with everything outside of the X5. Even the new X3 LCI is blah, pre lci was better.

Just not gonna buy and support this nonsense. Plus, im not even from china so im not their target anyway

rendering is completely off to what I see on spy photos. should be right design of headlights not these shit 2 series style. again ok for 2 series not for main flagman 5er. rear end looks diff as well compared to spy photos. I hope they will end up with legit design on this body.

No. Split headlights for the GKL models only.

How hard is it to reply to this thread without quoting the original long ass post?

Also these renders are making me lose braincells, why does the 3rd window go past the door when we have clear spy shots of how its positioned? And they just took a current 7er taillight and made it thicker when we know it's not going to look like that.

I suppose this newer M5 would be PHEV instead of EV so it can be lighter with less battery but 250hp is a lot to overcome for sure, and yea definitely feel like i4 M50 is handicapped, or at least they could still offer another version up to go beyond M3/M4 easily...

it's baby 7 these days, definitely not really a driver machine's allure these days (speaking as a G30 540 owner...)

though sales figure is pretty comparable at least to main rival so I suppose BMW would conclude that's the right thing to do...

Yeah of course. It's not some endangered model by any stretch of the imagination, but I think a lot of its appeal has waned over the years.

I wouldn't write off the upper scale models especially when some can and will improve on their current lightweight innovations.

The iX intelligent materials mix for example.
