Fingers crossed the new 5er maintains a bit of the traditional BMW design.

Like the shape of the headlights. Hope they don't pull a Mercedes/Audi and make completely fake exhaust outlets.

Promising. Hope the back is not too droopy like the weak-looking Merc CLS/CLA (that design move aged badly). Suspect a rear spoiler on M/CS models will pull it back from the edge (but why create a problem that then needs solving?).

The rest looks good. Bodes well for the next M5.

Digging the rear end. I hope bmw realizes that stupid front grill on the 3/4 would destroy sales on the 5er

Too early to tell much, but the sagging rear ala-Mercedes is not encouraging.

Do I see a bit of E39 design on that front shot?

It looks like an anthological throwback to multiple past generations: E60 style slanted and expressive headlights, E39 style only slightly caved in shark nose, F10/G30 long and slender profile, some E28 rear quarter plumpness, and obviously E12 style sloping trunklid

The front kind looks like the new Mercedes E class and back is shaped like Mercedes CLS

Looks like the large grille (which I like FWIW) is gonna be on this iteration but the camo makes it hard to tell.

That back is meh

I also hope they don't follow the MB style in the back end nor 4 series front end. Why not take e30-e39 lime of cars and add modern lines to it. Just what Porsche does. Oh well BMW, I can't buy the 4 series and won't buy the ugly 5 series when my current 5 series lease is over…. Hoping for better looking cars from you….

Might it be concealing this sort of taillight configuration underneath the camo?

Even with all the details covered up, this looks very promising!

Reminds me of the E39 5-Series.

Looks promising! As someone else stated looks like evolution rather than revolution in design.

To be clear, there will still be a non EV, non hybrid 5er, right? Might be a stupid question but just clarifying because the way I've seen some articles worded makes it seem like there will only be fully electric and hybrid models for the 5.

I like it. You can see the proportions…the axle to dash ratio appears a bit smaller like they're gearing up for a full-on BEV.
