Tire (snow) chains

Hi, I’m looking at tire chains for an i5 Edrive 40 touring, 19” 275/40 tire.

The BMW dealer only recommends BMW chains while I’m looking at the other brands.
Does anyone know if there are any requirements like chain thickness or tread only? Some car manufacturers have specific requirements protecting the suspension related components, chain thickness might be a requirement.

I’m looking at RUD Centrax N 893 or König CG-9 117.

Thx!

Also looking into this. Not found an answer yet. Most sites either do not have the 5er as a selection option, have doubtful advice (as in all chains fit, don’t believe this) or state that they do not know yet because of missing info from BMW.
BMW chains are good and easy to use. Not cheap and a bit clumsy to take along with a fully loaded trunk. So I would prefer something in a more handsome bag.

Do you know which OEM brand is used (re-branded) by BMW ? The dealer communicated this part number, USK25WM91N893, can't find any details. However, it looks like N893 being RUD Centrax N 893.

Not the ones you mentioned. But certainly these from RUD.

But I should thank you. By looking at this I just discovered that my existing set for the ix3 perfectly fit the 5er.

Hi, I am following this topic with interest. I ordered my BMW i5 touring without knowing that you cannot put snow chains on it. I get the car just before the snow season. My tire size is as wel 275 40 19. The BMW dealer could not provide me with advice as at BMW itself they don't have the answer either according them. I did some research on the internet and front assembly chains might be a solution. According the BMW i5 sedan manual snows chains should be fine-link and only suitable on 245 45 19. Would this then also hold for front assembly chains on 275 40 19? According some sites you need SUV chains for the weight of the electric car, but this then conflicts again with the fine-link requirement. In the end, I could order the Weissenfels M93 TRAK SUV ST62 relatively cheap. So to have at least something I took that opportunity, not knowing yet what the size of the links of these chains is. At least normal snow chains seems not to be the right choice for this tire size. If someone gets the right advise from the dealer I would be interested to know . Does someone have the user guide of the i5 touring? What does this tell about snow chains?

Considering as well "M91" in the code, it could also be the Weissenfels M91 Automatik N893. Weissenfels is bought by RUD, so maybe as well very related to the RUD chains you are mentioning.
