Another Tire Issue

It’s only been a month and it took weeks to get a left rear. Now it’s the right front. I don’t even hit potholes. This is ridiculous. Maybe I should just buy Michelins.

After purchasing my M550 I ran into this problem constantly. I had 20 inch Potenza S007 non run flats as stadard equipment. They were exceptionally prone to road imperfections. I had destroyed both front tires more than twice, a rear tire and bent two rims. I switched to Continental Extreme Contact DWS. They are an all season tire. Softer, better tread and properly performance rated. They made a very big difference. I still have to be careful to avoid imperfections.

My M550 came with the Bridgestone S007’s also. An unbelievably delicate tire with amazing grip, though. I hit a pothole on the way home from delivery and ended up replacing the left front tire the next day. These tires barely made it to 10k miles. As max summer performance tires, they were awful in temperatures below 50 degrees and at times bordered on being dangerous. These are the wrong tires for this car as a daily driver unless you plan to take it to the track on the weekends, at which point you will get to know your local tire dealer very well.

I switched to Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4’s and they are a million times better. I don’t have to fear hitting the smallest of imperfections on the road anymore and they are better wearing tires.

Garage List
That’s a bummer - any ideas what the cause is? Did you pick up a nail or a screw or was this a pothole?

They are Pirelli PZERO all season. I had problems with Pirelli on my Jaguar as well. I just drove to the grocery store last night.
Didn’t hit a curb or drive over anything. Last tire, it was a sidewall puncture where the tread meets. No idea how that happens. I will just take it to Discount Tire and have them look at it.

Don’t you have tire insurance whether through the dealer or Discount Tire (assuming you got them there)?

I wonder if the weight has something to do with this?

I had a M550 with run flats (20 inch wheels) and there were equally bad with tire bubbles. I’ve literally never had an issue with any other car or any other tire in my life….but I had to replace like 5 tires on my M550. When I had my M5 right after I never once had an issue (same size wheels).

I suspect the issue was the lower profile tires. The M5 I think had 35 all around….if I remember correct the M550i had 35 in front and 30 in rear?
