Yeah I’ve seen one of those and they look pretty sleek and probably drives like it but that’s a small segment of the brand. I guess my point was their sedan sales have shifted to SUVs probably more than other luxury brands.

My car has a Dinan tune to give it roughly the same bhp/torque as the G60 but mine is ~500-600 lbs lighter due to lack of xdrive and the extra weight of the new car. Even in the 2000-3000 rpm range my G30 feels faster and the CA didn’t discourage me from revving out the G60. It just felt slower even with all the settings in sport plus to ensure best response. Overall I liked how the M Sport pkg made it drive but disliked the acceleration.
You’re comparing a tuned G30 540i vs a standard G60 540i. That is not an apples to apples comparison.

I know what I’m comparing - G30 540i M Sport vs G60 540iX M Sport - the power is the same, the weight is different and yes it can make a difference. Yet can still compare as many G30 owners never tuned their cars. I didn’t get the sense that the G60 540i with M Sport pkg and all available engine, transmission, etc settings in Sport plus was as sharp as the G30 540i with only some of the same settings in sport plus. For those that have owned both or have driven G60 more extensively than my 15-20 minutes, do you get the same feeling that the G60 is slightly lazier?

I had two 540 xdrive G30s, preLCI and post LCI. I spent nearly 7 years driving the G30 platform. I have even taken the car to proper race track (Lime Rock) a few times. I am now 2+ months and 3k miles into the 540 G60 platform.

In my opinion G60 stock pulls harder than G30 stock. Doesnt matter if it's from a dig or highway acceleration.

No. Quite the contrary. The throttle response of the G60 is instant while there was a little turbo lag in the G30. And overall acceleration from all speeds is much more immediate in the G60. But then the B58 in the G30 was rated at 330 hp, while this one is 375. And the smoothness of the ride in the G60 is way, way better, largely, I think because of the switch to regular tires. I never realized how awful RFT's were until I went back to regular tires.

COBodom PsychDoc Thank you...was hoping both of you would respond since you had G30 540i's before.
As I recall the B58 loosens up/gets more flexible revving after a few thousand miles. Have you reached that point yet or are you seeing this difference vs G30 in less than 5k miles on the new engine? Maybe I wasn't giving the G60 as much throttle as I thought. My local dealer will have one in a month or so and will test drive again.

You're very welcome and 100% agreed on opening up the engine. I am still waiting for that. I am also not babying the G60. When opportunity comes the engine rpms go up

I got out of my last G30 at 45k miles, at that mileage the car felt faster than new, across the rpm band.

I’m at 43k miles on my G30. It feels more lively than ever… maybe it’s just happy spring arrived.
