So my G60 has 4k miles as of today I got the car in November of last year the oil level has been on Max the hole time has not moved the dealer says it won't do the first change until around 4k more miles or November whatever come first or I can pay for it myself.

What you guys think shouldn't I do the first Oil change when at least at 5k?

Been wondering the same thing myself. Just hit 5k miles and it feels weird to not change the oil. Dealer insists I don’t need to until 10k or 12 months.

Yup, the dealerships and the genius line always says you don't need to change the oil until 10k. I don't buy it. I had my oil changed at 5k on my own dime. I'll bring it to the dealership to get the included oil change when I get to 10k. Just seemed like the prudent thing to do with a new engine.

I plan on doing the same thing. I'll pay for it. Just do it.

Just remember that oil change intervals are set to minimize warranty repairs, not life after the warranty expires.

This is why it is a well known adage to not buy a BMW out of warranty due to minimal fluid changes.

If you plan on keeping your BMW after warranty expires, change oil every 6000 miles. If not, just do the BMW provided changes.

BTW, also change the front/rear differentials and transaxle fluids at 25000 miles not 40000 if you are keeping car past warranty. This will reduce gear wear from built up metal wear particles.

Thanks for this, information. I plan on keeping mine until the G60 replacement comes out. I'm always going to hit 'years' before miles. My Audi (2018) I'm getting rid of has 35,500'ish miles on it. It was 6 years old in April. So would this be in 2.5 years? (vs miles) for the diff/trans fluid replacements?
