Is it true that they have to replace the track surface each time one of these cars uses it? My son asked me if the track surface was only rated to withstand the mass of a small moon instead.

It’s always like this. Would you believe me that when the e46 came out, all the comments on the forums were about how bubbly it looked and that they would never buy one? Today, it’s considered the greatest 3 series by many.

Still can’t get over the ugly sill line required to share this platform with a full EV. The proportions are all wrong. I’m sure the car is great but please fire the designers.

I think they’ve said the inspiration came from the Brooklyn Navy Yard (decommissioned in the 1960s). The grey is supposed to be a military grey like on a USN ship.

I cannot remember where I saw it to use it as a reference for you.

Hell, after spending over 20 years in the Navy, and being Civil Service for 17 after that. And working on a Navy Base now, I see it every frickin' day. Maybe that's why I could never own a car that color. I have enough Haze Grey in my life to last forever. I don't want to drive it home. I'd probably tell the personal Assistant "Hey BMW, All ahead, Full. Make turns for 28 knots. Course 220.5". Instead of attaching M Symbols I'd be painting hull numbers on the fenders. Lol.

Yeah I think they did a good job as far as making the color go with the inspiration… despite whether or not the color itself brings bad memories.

Hull numbers, maybe an occasional rivet?

It’s just named for the Melbourne Grand Prix circuit. BMW have a whole series that are just named for famous race circuits.
