So, today guys out of nowhere, my right side of my screen briefly would flicker on and off it would stop and then it would happen like every I don't know every minute or so, so once I got to my destination, I did a soft reset and it hasn't done it on the way back home. Little worry about that. My my screen has never done that. The left side is fine, but the right side was doing it? But since I did a soft reset it, it appeared to clear itself up. Has anybody ever experienced any flickering in their screen The good news is the car's on the warranty. And my worry, what this is? I just hope if the screen going to fail. It does while the cars under warranty because I didn't lease

I have not seen that before, but it sure seems like something that could be caused by software. Since you restarted iDrive and it went away I'd say that's a good sign. It would be interesting to hear how often folks restart iDrive. I have had my car since March 21, 2024 and did it once. Although, looking back, I probably didn't need to because I was still learning about how the car works and am new to BMW, so was probably being over-cautious. I'm trying now to track how often I have to do a restart. So far, so good since early April.

Thanks, I did report that to my dealer. I'm just going to keep an eye on it. If it happens again, I'm going to record it. There's no sense in bringing the car in unless the screen goes bad. My whole thing is if the screen's gonna fail. Just fail. It's hard to troubleshoot those things when it's sporadic. But it may be software that caused that.

So I have been following this and other strings. It seems like a few of the iDrive issues have gone away after rebooting or re-starting iDrive. How do you restart iDrive? Is there a hidden power button, or a sequence of button presses to start a Reboot function, or some procedure on how to force the computer to reboot? Because from what I understand it never really shuts down, just goes into a sort of sleep mode when you get out and lock the doors. Correct? I would like to know so I don't go into panic mode when I get my new car delivered and run into an issue like this. (Hopefully not, But I don't want to run crying to the dealership whenever I run into an issue I can hopefully resolve myself. At least well enough to get going.)

Hold down the volume roller and keep holding it down, it takes a while, at first it just goes to sleep but if you keep holding it down and eventually it reboots, you can definitely tell the difference, but it takes way longer than it feels. I think someone said it’s about 70 seconds, and that would be about right on my experience

With the new update, hold down the button until it makes a rumbling noise which takes about a minute. Let go. Then press again until you hear the rumbling noise again then let go.

Ok so 41 days later my right screen started flickering on and off again wtf starting to get worried 😫 I did a soft reboot and it stopped but I feel this should not be happing.

I guess I'll have to record it or bring it to the dealer as it's happening if it happens again only one person reported this so far any suggestions?

So does this replace the 70 second reboot?

By "the button" are you referring to the volume roller or some other button?

It’s based on reputation and number of posts, I believe.

You go to your profile, select “settings” and then “Edit your details” and go to “custom user title” - you must have changed yours to your username. I’ve no idea what the algorithm is between post count and reputation points/kudos however.

Well anyway I got an appointment to the dealer I explained my issue and they want to take the car in and do some diagnostics on and see what's going on with my screen even though it's only happened twice and it's not happened currently but at least I'll have it documented if they can't find anything and I'm going to record it if it happens again and try to get to the dealer if it's happening during business hours so that's that

Thanks. You were right. I just had to reset it to default.

Every time someone clicks “appreciate” on one of your posts you get a “REP” point. Basically if you’re an asshole who posts a lot you’ll have a high number of posts and low rep. The Psychdoc user seems to have a good karmic ratio however ;-)
