How to enable YouTube on main control display
When I click on the four dots it seems to be an available app but when I click it, it just says "downloading" but nothing happens after that so it can't be used.
Is there something else I need to do to have access to YouTube (while the car is stationary, of course)? [Edit] As a workaround, can YouTube be accessed through Android Auto perhaps? Last edited by PsychDoc; 04-13-2024 at 07:19 AM.. |

If it’s the first time it’s real slow, then less slow after you’ve activated it. I found it’s more work to entertain my 4 yr old with the car compared to her iPad.

You need the eSIM activated as well to use the You Tube app. There is a TiVo powered video streaming app that does not require the eSIM (only the entertainment package from the connected drive store which has a one year free trial), but I am not sure if that is available on ICE cars.

When I try to run the YouTube app it gives a message that says the eSIM needs to be activated. So, even if you get the app fully downloaded and working - you'll probably have to get the eSIM working too (activated with your wireless carrier).
I also went into Android Auto on my phone and wanted to set YouTube as an app that can be served up via Android Auto, but YouTube wasn't available as one of the apps that Android Auto will work with. Not sure if I'm missing something, but I didn't see it in the list for me to enable.

I can confirm that the YouTube app works reasonably well once you activate the eSIM.

And there's no way to pull up You Tube on the phone and have it display on the car's control display screen?
I know at home I can cast anything on the phone screen to a TV screen connected to the same Wi-Fi network. |
