I canned 25 jars of San Marzano tomatoes last year. Not sure why they grow well in Washington, but they do. I make killer bolognese.

Cool, we're on the same ship. Currently the ship is smack dab in the middles of the North Atlantic. The two web sites I've been using to track the ship both initially indicated arrival in Panama on March 2nd. Now one of them shows March 3rd. I couldn't find anything showing when they are expected to Port Hueneme, so thanks for that info.

I'll be happy if I can take delivery before the end of March. My dealership is only about 65 miles from the port so if the ship actually arrives around March 11, that should be possible. I'll keep my fingers crossed so our cars don't sink in the Atlantic or Pacific, and that we get them as expeditiously as possible.

I’m also Italian. Maybe, that’s why I’ve stayed with the Pirellis that came with my car. This past September, I had the great opportunity to visit the original home of my grandmother and great-grandmother, in Liguria: life changing. Too untalented to drive while there, though!

If you’ll be in Rome, try Pizzeria Emma!🇮🇹
Please send pics, when your new ride arrives!

Been to Liguria amazing. But you can say that about pretty much anywhere in Italy. Took my young son to the aquarium in Genoa, Portofino, Cinque Terre...
Can't wait to go back.

Cinque Terre is my wife's favorite spot in Italy. We stayed in Rapallo and took a train to the Cinque Terre. Such beautiful scenery.

😁 the production started officially exactly 2 weeks ago. When would you guesstimate I’ll be taking delivery of it (Brooklyn, NY)?

Maybe 4-6 weeks depending on how long it waits at the port.

You’ll be surprised how quickly it will get to port once the exterior is done. Mine was 8 days in Bremerhaven. My car boarded the Donington, then a stop in Belgium, and an 8+ days trip to the BMW Group VDC in Sparrows Point, MD. She arrived last Saturday. Monday to clear customs. Tuesday and Wednesday at the VDC. Car carrier Thursday and my Genius thinks it’s at the dealership today. No confirmation, but three of us are from NC and we’re on the same car carrier. One of them has delivery tomorrow, so I’m very hopeful. I hope the rain stops early.

Hope that helps.

My wait at the German port was only 8 days, then a stop in Southampton, England and then over to Halifax and finally to the port in NJ. Total travel time across the Atlantic was 12 days IIRC. It flew thru the VPC (which applied a fix to a stop sale) and customs and was on its way to the dealership three days after it hit port in NJ. One day to the dealership on LI and then a day for final prep. These timeliness vary widely but it can be really fast.

You probably know by now, but the Viking Queen cleared the Panama Canal a couple hours ago so ours should arrive in Port Hueneme early on the 12th. I'm in So California and based on 3 previous orders, I should be able to pick it up at the dealer before Saint Patrick's Day - Unless yours was a European delivery, you should get yours by Friday IMO.

Yes, I saw that too. I don't know how long it will take to get to the dealership in Santa Clarita after the 12th, but I'll be happy if I can take delivery anytime later that week or the next. It's my first BMW so I have no idea how long it takes. What do you mean by European delivery? Aren't all the 5 series cars built in Dingolfing, Germany? I'm in SoCal too (Santa Clarita).

in 2022, I ordered my 2023 X1. Waited 5 months before it finally arrived at my dealer. During those 5 months, I was refreshing the BMW website daily...when the car finally got on a ship, I was tracking the ship twice a day. When I woke up, the first thing that I did was go to fleetmon.com website to track the ship. It became an obsession. So many hours lost just tracking it.

while it was a fun experience, I have decided not to go through that again with my 530i, which is going into production this week. I will not be tracking the status at all. I'll just wait for my BMW CA to call me when the car arrives at the dealership.

In the mean time, I'll use the free time to binge-watch all the Netflix shows that I have missed during the last couple of years. (stupid me... I've been paying Netflix every month, but I haven't logged in in almost a year)

Come to think of it, this will be a science experiment. Does time pass faster when one is worrying and tracking vehicle production? Or does time pass faster when one completely ignores it?

In Canada, the tracker for customers only shows “in transit” from status 193 until 198. That part of the wait is the longest…

I loved tracking, especially the marine traffic. I ended up tracking other ships for fun. There was a ship that I didn’t get on and one after mine and I would compare port times, locations, etc.

What a great thread this is! And the added chat and pictures to literally keep "the long wait moving along" are a breath of fresh air

European Delivery is where you pick up your vehicle at the plant in Germany and drive it around on vacation or business - You then return it to the plant and they clean it up and ship it home. They often take longer to get on a ship and sometimes they get held up in customs at the port, in our case, Port Hueneme, probably due to the fact the customer has had the vehicle in their possession and there is the possibility of contraband being onboard.

It sounds like you have a Priority One vehicle. You ordered it but you will not pay for it until you pick it up here. The dealerships would like to be paid as soon as possible so they put them in front of other vehicles. My last three went through inspection and customs quickly at the port and they were at the dealer in Orange County & ready to pickup within 3 or 4 days. You are much closer.
