Purchasing a 540I
New to the forum. I will be ordering a 2024 540I in a couple of months. I've built several on the build site but wondering if I'm asking for problems with all of the extras. I'm ordering the executive package and all of the additional options except the luxury seating package. I live in central Florida and the brown interior which is the only color available with this option is too dark for me. Are there any of the options that any of you are experiencing problems with? This will be my "comfort car" to be used for long distance travels. Should I be aware of any known problems with the cars performance? Thank you in advance.

I haven’t had any issues. The engine is remarkable. I’m at 1000 miles and in 200 miles, the break-in period will be complete. I’ve taken a few long drives and recommend the Executive Package, Driving Assistant Professional Package, Luxury Seating Package, M Sport Professional Package, and if you love music like I do, the Bowers and Wilkins Surround Sound. There is one thing: the time should have changed automatically when we moved to Daylight Savings Time, but it didn’t. This affects us G60 owners and there’s a thread about it. A low priority bug with high impact. It’s a great daily commute car as well as a being a comfort car for long distance driving. We all look forward to your journey. |

Welcome!
For luxury seating it’s available with other colours (or maybe Im misunderstanding your question)? I think it’s available for all colours except a few (Silverstone, Black Alcantara). You should definitely not need to choose brown.

Silverstone a must
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I need to order the Silverstone interior because of the extreme heat here in central Florida. I will check with my local BMW dealer before I pull the trigger.

If your requirement is light colored upholstery then either smoke white veganza or Silverstone merino leather. But luxury seats aren’t available in Silverstone, hence my suggestion to try the Taupe Gray option if your dealer can make that happen. If I didn’t want ZLS option then Silverstone merino sport seats for sure.

Can anyone confirm if G60 540iX comes standard with IAS? Thanks!

Which is one reason I'm not jumping onboard until at least 2025 model year. IAS makes the 840i GC (same size as G60) drive much smaller.

Would be interesting to see some sort of comparison between the i5 and 5 turning radius. I can’t believe how maneuverable my i5M60 is with IAS.

I’m sure there is a huge difference I have a 540i and my dad has an I7. Fairly certain that has a better turning radius than my 5. Impressive given how long of a car it is.

That doesn’t surprise me, I swear that my i5 has a slightly smaller turning radius than my old 3 series, or it’s at least equivalent

The radius feels really tight. I love whipping through the roundabouts in my downtown area.

U-turns are great in the 540, but you have to watch out for the drivers who fly through their red light. |
