Rear seats height: ICE vs BEV vs PHEV
Hi!
I'm looking for an info I can't seem to find online and which is very hard to verify locally. Anyone know if the height of the rear seats is different among the different choices of drivetrain for the G60? Among my future choices I'll hesitate between the PHEV and BEV versions of the G60 and rear seat comfort is important to me as I often have passengers travelling with me on long distances. I sat in a i5 recently and while it was mostly comfortable it had that typical BEV problem of having quite low seats for the height of the car's floor; my knees were quite high and left this not so comfortable gap between the edge ot the seat and my legs, in a weird angle. BEVs have this problem most of the time because of the battery raising the car's floor. Anyone had a chance to compare this between a BEV, an ICE or a PHEV? I saw a video review of the 530i which didn't seem to have the same problem but of course it's hard to judge when just looking at someone else sitting in a car in a video. |

I didn’t notice any difference. BMW builds the i5 on the same platform. They kept the transmission tunnel. If they were going to have differences between the specific models, they would have removed it and made a flat floor in the rear.

Maybe those of us in the forum here can provide the distance from the floor to the front edge of the rear seat. I'll start.
I just measured my 2024 i5 eDrive40. The distance from the floor to the top front edge of the rear seat is about 13 inches (with all-weather rubber mats installed instead of the carpet mats). Maybe some 520i, 530i, 540i and 540e drivers can add their measurements for comparison. I suspect they're all the same, but we can find out for sure if the right people contribute. :-)

I know both SHOULD be the same but many cars from the BMW group have different measurements in the rear between the different drivetrains (i4, MINI Countryman for instance). I may get a chance to measure a 550e next week also; I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, if any ICE owner here can make the same measurement as Skyking, I'll be very interested to see that! |

I have some memory that formerly active user OHV_44 had posted some graphic showing the rear seat dimensions (sadly I think he/she’s now out enjoying their car rather than hanging out here talking about it) - maybe tagging them here will summon them back?
