Not that I’m trying to convince anyone to like the car, as I’m sure it’s not just the steering wheel buttons…..but aren’t the buttons the same as the IX and other cars so will probably make there way on to forthcoming models? Don’t think they are haptic on the IX….

iX center console has haptic buttons but also has a wood option there to avoid the fingerprint prone black piano trim.

Sorry didn’t do the full quote but the comment quoted related to the steering wheel buttons. I was just responding to say that the i5 / 5 steering wheel buttons looked liked the ones in the IX…..that I didn’t think were haptic. Can you confirm they aren’t haptic on the IX?

I'll have to check on that on the steering wheel. I don't really remember...

I'd buy the touring 540i in an instant. Oh well, I guess in the US we're stuck with the 450 wagon and A6 avant.

Not haptic on the steering wheel. Only center console.

By the way:
Nevertheless, the employees in Dingolfing want to build more than 300,000 cars.

Alexander Schmuck, Product & Technology Communications Manager at BMW North America, explains:

"The reason for the rear window not opening separately has to do with the slim, sporty, aerodynamic design of the rear of the vehicle and the sloping roofline. Including a mechanism to open the window separately in the tailgate would have come at the expense of interior volume in the trunk area."

I would have sacrificed a few litres of cargo space to have the practicality of split rear window.
