I have had the i5 M60 for 3 days and I love it so far. Still in the break in period so I haven’t really pushed it.

Wow! The grill trim really compliments the color of the car well, perfect contrast.

Question, even though it’s a EV, does it still have a break in period and what does that comprise of?

Congrats aswell.

Car looks great with the dark tint!

@AP: Manual recommends avoiding full throttle and heavy braking in the first 300mi/500km, mostly for the drive system and brakes.

Garage List
Here is my thought after 1 week:
1) I am still getting used to the breaking. Coming from a non EV driver, I use D and set the regen to low rather than adaptive. But still it will noticeably slow down when release the “gas”, and when pressing brake to stop it is not that smooth.
2) The interior light is very bright at night and I have to lower it to about 40%. Otherwise the car side windows will reflect the ambient light and I can’t see anything from the side mirror.
3) I tried to plug in a USB-C cable but after one night the car gives me a battery drain warning. So I removed it and no probe afterwards.
4) I found the side window is not completely vertical and with an slight inward angle on the top. As a result I have bumped my head into the windows at lease 3 times.
5) It is a fingerprint collector!
6) The parking warning tone, the turning signal tone. Those are very cheap and the volume is usually low. If they hire Hans Zimmer to do the iconic sound, why not design these tones / beeps better?

Mine is still at the port in Germany since 10/3. I was able to test drive an m60 yesterday and it was very smooth and nice. It was charged to 100% and range was exactly 248 on 20 inch wheels. How’s your range been over the 3 days? I’m getting a home charger installed but I still have a little range anxiety and I don’t even have it yet ha.

Per BMW:

Break-in procedures

General Information
Moving parts need to work together smoothly. The following instructions will help you to achieve a long vehicle life and good efficiency.

Drive system
Drive restrained for the first 300 miles/500 km and avoid full throttle.

Tires
Tire traction is not optimal due to manufacturing circumstances when tires are brand new. Drive conservatively for the first 200 miles/300 km.

Brake system
Brake disks and brake pads must be run in to avoid possible brake noise. Drive cautiously for the first approx. 300 miles/500 km.

Following part replacement
Observe the break-in procedures again if components mentioned above are replaced.

Will there be any ICE version of the new 5 series? Like a 550?

Personally not ready for an EV. However, I like the looks of this one. I like the Audi, Mercedes and Porsche EVs as well. All are much more attractive to my eye than the Teslas. Anyway, I will take an ICE G61 if ever one makes it to the USA.

The same impression - this car looks great because it's quite the opposite of what Tesla tries to achieve.

I am also not ready for the current edition of EVs because solid state batteries are on the horizon.

The color and lighting really help bring out the muscular lines of the hood, looks fantastic. Makes me wonder why most of the press photos look rather flat instead.

Doesn’t the manual encourage heavy braking to “run in” the brakes and discs?

There’s no “break-in” period for M-lite cars let alone EV’s.
