That's great mpg, but it's mostly flat highways in Quebec/Ontario

I was able to get 30 MPG on my F10 550i LCI on longer highway trips. My X5 M50i? Not so much. Still, got 25 MPG on a recent highway trip with no traffic.

Actually it was during a trip between Montreal and Florida, mostly flat, but in the Adirondacks, going up and down, I did 28 MPG...

I can beat that on my m550 so it doesn’t sound that great in comparison but suspect people will be able to beat that figure

You can certainly achieve great numbers if you hypermile.

I averaged 23mpg with my 40i. Pretty disappointed but it was through mixed mountain roads and highways.

Well I just got 23 mpg in my X7 40i on a 70ish mile drive. I guess setting the cruise to 90 with a full vehicle and overnight bags has something to do with it.

Played a role for me. V8 was too thirsty and too nose heavy (hurting handling).

So I went with the 540. 340 easily tunable horsepower and 7 liters per 100km is incredible.

I would rather ask you why anyone would buy an engine because it is not fuel efficient? Same stupid logic.

You’re right about it being nose heavy. I don’t mind it but it’s one thing I didn’t think about before and didn’t read many comments about. I like the muscle car power and don’t have many roads around me where the nose heavy handling hurts. If I lived in the mountains I might prefer the B58.

I still like the M550, too.

Heck, I almost bought one.
