Ceramic Coating Cost-NY area

What are people paying professional detailers to Ceramic Coat these days? I am in the Long Island, NY area. I have 2 detailers I am trying to decide between for a 3 year coat on a brand new X5. One is 800 and the other is 1200. Both have 70 plus positive reviews and 5.0 score on Google but nervous with the $800 dollar one you get what you pay for. A few other quotes were also in the 1100-1500 range. I wish I had the patience and time to do it myself but dont trust myself regardless. It is a 3 year lease so leaning towards the $800 guy but spoke with the 1200 guy and really like him. Maybe over-analyzing but have only had the car 5 days.

You are clear the coating is just to make maintenance easier ? It won't prevent rock chips or the like......as the masses tend to this this is some sort of invisible hardcoat. What is the names of the 2 shops and what -brand- are ceramic are they offering. Is a minor 1 step polish included with the slightly more expensive one. IME, it starts at 1K +

Both processes are the same. One uses Gtechniq which i have read good things about and my friend also uses their products. The other product is System X, which I dont know much about.

*Both processes are the same.*

What is the process ?
You're not paying for product (to some degree). The cost is for skilled labor....

It's all about the prep work, I recently ceramic coated my E92 and the devil is in the details. I washed, clayed, compounded and polished before applying the coating. The benefits showed after the first rain, the water sheeted off and the car looked great.

Seems like a waste of money on a lease.

What benefits are you trying to achieve by getting the car coated?

a lease?

I would just use the turtle wax hybrid ceramic spray every 3 months. its like $15 a bottle and does a great job. Lasts 2/3 months if car is outside, longer if garaged. 3 year lease thats basically doing it 3 times a year, easy as pie, 1 to 2 bottles per year thats $30 a year.

Are those prices just for the paint? Including correction? Not wheels? Glass? Interior?
I was quoted 1,100 for system X including wheels back in June. Xpel coatings all 1,200 - 1,500 including wheels
Im in NYC also

In the end I bought Gyeon One - did the paint prep myself like back in the day and the did the ceramic coating myself. You can check out my post in this forum. It was actually really simple and I think it came out great. And saved myself a grand.

Good luck with whatever you decide

Geez, I was quoted $1800 for a ceramic coating, two days to perform and Gyeon One is under $100!

Anyone else have experience with these products?

Depends how often you drive.

If it's a daily, a 800$ ceramic coat will usually last 3-5 years, which is a good cost.

If it's driven every now and then, get the yearly spray on coatings, you'll only have to pay 400$ or less every 2 years.

Would you be so kind as to share the name of the detailer? I’m in New York and would love to bring my car to them.

My shop recently switched to Gtechniq's Halo V2 and the owner said he was very pleased with the results.

I'm being quoted $2000 for Ceramic Pro Ion - by a professional installer. 3 coats glass tires and inside the wheels. Lifetime warranty. Thoughts?

Not sure applying something with more permanence than the term of your lease would be smart! You could be charged to remove it from the paint!!!

Did you do it yourself? Time involved? How much prep?

My car will be brand new, Thinking of trying it myself in my heated well lit garage the first day I get it

Get the dealer to skip much of the delivery surface prep (their opportunity to swirl/mar the paint) - it will save you some work!
