i5 leasing and $7500 EV credit potentially going away
Does anyone else here in the US have an i5 on order and planning to lease? Are you getting nervous about the credit going away?
We placed our i5 order back in Aug, and slated for production 3rd week of January. So I expect it to be finished around March or April. We leased to take advantage of the $7500 lease credit. However, everyone expects the new administration to eliminate that loophole. But nobody knows how quickly it could happen. I didn't ask my salesman, but I assume I won't get that credit if the government eliminates it before I get the car. Would you agree? So I'm debating if I should cancel the pre-order and try to buy an inventory model now. The major downside is that I wouldn't get the options I want. Back in the summer, my dealer wasn't able to find an e40 with Bowers sound and Luxury seating. |

It’s really hard to say what will happen. If Trump enacts half the things he says, the country is doomed. California provides 1/3 of all vegetables for the US and 3/4 of all fruits and nuts. Migrant workers are 80% of the agricultural work force. Deportation isn’t going to work. I think they will be too tied up thinking their way out of that one to worry about EVs.

You have a valid point, but I'd be surprised if that happens so quickly. Who knows, maybe because of his relationship with Musk, he'll leave the EVs alone until later in his term.
You are correct with your assumption that the rebate will not be available if the government gets rid of it. BMW only offers it via the lease because it's available via the government program. You're taking a risk by waiting, but on the other hand, do you really want a car that you don't absolutely love? Will you resent the car because it doesn't have what you really want? I think I would. Good luck!

With the House majority at under 10 he will struggle to put together the votes there to get it done. Even the Senate is wishy washy since Murkowski and every Dem would oppose it--he'd need to keep any other defections under 3, and Collins, McCormick, and either NC Senator would be under pressure to keep IRA alive.

I’m sorry but saying 90% of the workers are from Mexico is very different than saying they are all illegal migrants and deportation will not be possible bc of this.
Edit - you didn’t say illegal you just said migrant - but if they are legal then deportation won’t be a problem. So I made an assumption for you. Last edited by Mattl0806; Today at 12:40 PM.. |
