Range is obviously limited day 1 and no unusual if you look at other new models in the past, may take 12 months before all power trains and options are available
For example , don’t see Alcantara headlining as one example - assuming they plan to add that.

Gut feeling is that they got this new model a bit wrong. Sure it will sell but as much as before? We’ll see
Gutted about the UK ICE engines, only 520i M sport. I wanted a 530d or 540i M Sport.

I think you are spot on. It’s that rear window and rear trunk proportion.

If I build a 520i with the same equipment as my current G31, it ends up at 70k EUR.

What? 1 and to some extent 5 and lesser extent 4 are kind of deal brakers.
Love my comfort seats in my G31.

It is worse that mismatched design, it is mediocre design IMO.

My only issue with the design is the black at the bottom of the sides.
Why?

Other than that, price and seats are the main problems.

Ohh... And what happened to the laser headlights (high beam)?
I kind of like them when driving in the dark with my G31.

I consider the 1990 Accord and the 1988 5-Series as the two best styled mid-size cars of the 90s. It is sad to see how both cars design have degraded into mediocrity.

Found the swedish configurator now. Price is a bit less for the abse option. Only options are 4-cylinder diesel (520d xdrive) and the two electric ones.

And no motorway assistant for us.

It looks so awkward from the front. It’s proportions are off. They’re trying to make it look taller. Straight up looks like an X1 refresh from this angle.

Has BMW delivered a Better, Faster and more Expensive Honda Accord?

I fear car stylists (aided by the almighty wind tunnel) have Accord-ified the 5 Series and all sedans.

Sad...Very Sad.

(please tell me I'm wrong)

Exactly what I was thinking, If we remove the badging and the front grill , it appears to be an Accord LCI

Decontenting is a subtle yet frequently employed mechanism to increase margins as the prices of raw materials increase.

Such are the current times.

Another car manufacturer (let the innocent be protected) employed decontenting until the vehicle has so many quality problems that the entire assembly line had to be stopped for 3 weeks in order to address all the issues. Too much finally has a clear definition in the dictionary.

Oh BMw , what have you done

Well the sales figures will determine if they got this right
Indeed - the sales statistics are the final authority on whether any model succeeds. Could not agree more.

Oh that’s going to be great, it’s built for the expanding Chinese market. That’s the primary market for 5 now. Nobody buys sedans stateside according to BMW, so there we go.

X5 is the best seller by far and X vehicles outsell any other BMW sedan in the US.

The US market consumers have voted for now. Digressing for a moment, GM cannot build enough of full size SUVs: Tahoe, Denali, and Escalade which incidentally will be offered in EV form in about a year.

I don’t know how that all happened either. I get they’re convenient but damn. I had like 5 tahoes/yukons. They’re great. But all the midsize SUVs killing the wagon market and to a lesser extent the sedan market is a bummer.
