well I've had a look around on te configurator and a couple of the reviews on youtube and come to the conclusion that the M550 I just bought was the right move.

the styling does notihng for me, in fact I really don't like it.
I hate (actually I'll put that in capitals, HATE both steering wheels. they shoul; be ROUND!
I don't like idrive 8.5, curved display
I don't like the lack of a gear stick. (m550 had just move it over for sportier gear changes)
There isn't really any features there that I don't already have my M550
the autogefel review mentioned that the 6 cylinder will not be available in the EU, is that correct?
The radar sensor in the grill is cumbersome design wise.

even choosing the i5 560m, same performance as the m550 (although i suspect quicker off the line) range is not great. and the cost!

Pretty soft design. Looks like an Infiniti. But IMO better than the M2/M3 so by BMW standards not bad. But by overall standards it’s pretty meh

Extremely generic design! Worst part is that it looks "cheap". For instance, the F10 had a presence on the road and this one does not look like it would have the same. BMW is betting on the fact that even people who really dislike their design will come knocking on their door when it's time to buy a new vehicle as there are not many quality options out there.

If you look real closely, it looks like dedicated fan controls are back. Temperature remains on screen. Nice about face, and a slap to the face for early iDrive 8 adopters. Betting everything will be back with iDrive 9, following the lead of smarter car companies who’ve changed their minds too.

Those are not fan controls, like the 7er the touch controls on the ambient bar control how open/closed the vent is.

Interior is nice, best integration of the curved display yet. Exterior is fine, just busy like all new designs. Not sure why they have to put all that black trim around the bottom of the car. Everytime I see an i4 it looks like its 2 feet off the ground....
