Respectfully disagree, g30 was such a mild evolution from f10 in terms of design language, which made the f10 age well.

G60 is a bigger step and it’s too early to make that assessment. It’s a weird angle for a shot here.

I want to see the rear. That’s what BMW screwed up on the 7. It doesn’t look imposing….looks like a 2010-2015 Ford Taurus.

I do like the front with similarities from XM (large, upright grill), 8 series (headlights) and G20 lci (angular front bumper).
Side profile isn‘t as sharp, but the profile perspective of the image doesn‘t help.
Hofmeister kink almost non-existent anymore 🥲Fastback rear… not feeling it at the moment.
My thoughts…

But let‘s see the full car in a few days.

This looks much better then the design language they used for the new 7 series. Once the new M5 is released ALL the haters will have to eat their words & pissy little detrimental comments.

Obviously this doesn’t necessarily represent the M sport or the full M version, but I sure hope those iterations add a lot more aggressiveness to the next gen 5er.
Noooo aggressiveness is what ruined BMW design. The simple clean design of this 5er is a return to form IMO. No horrible ‘look at me’ grilles and clean 3 box design is where it’s at!

To each their own. The i5 shown here is bland and just blends in with all the other cars out there, IMHO. 🥱

Looking forward to the official launch pictures and the first test drive reviews. Cautiously optimistic nevertheless.

Agreed. The 5 is a classic, subtle executive sedan.

Well it's official now with the new G-series 5... BMW found a way to make every G series car look bad. I don't know where are they getting their designers from.

The side of the car is nearly featureless, and they compensated with an overly stylized front end. I’ll reserve final judgment for better pics, but I’m not seeing much to like so far.

If they made it look nothing like any other sedan, everyone would be bitching about that. It’s a solid looking profile.

I think they had a really hard act to follow in the G30. Of course, I’m biased because I’ve bought two of them in the last 18 months. But it’s a new generation. They’re not going to make it look like the E39 or the F10 or the G30. It’s its own deal.

5 series customers were begging for it not to have an out of the box design like the front ends of the 4 and M3, or like the new 7. It has an appropriate grill, no split head lights, and a classic long front end. They look to have gone pretty sloped on the rear end but it’s by no means outside the box. It looks sleek, subtle, and traditional. It’s a 5 series, not an M3.

It looks exactly like what I think it’s supposed to be. Are there details I don’t love? Yeah. But nothing that jumps out and screams at me. I think it’s promising.

Well if it’s any consolation, the E39 (I had 2) was designed by Tokyo-born, American-educated Joji Nagashima. Just saying. Seems Hooydonk and his designers forgot they were European and that’s one big reason the cars sold well for so many years. I’m most likely buying this G60 in 540i version, but not till late 2024. Reveal next week could tip that earlier or later.

The 5 series is a dying car. The 5 guys have either moved onto an X5 or even the 7. The few remaining are old school guys that love their ICE cars.
Seems like this car was designed for other markets.
Uhhh, no. Don’t want either the X5 (had 2) or 7er (had E38). All great in their own right but not what I want and I’m certain there are plenty like me in the US and around the world. You’re entitled to your opinion but it doesn’t mean that’s what others want. I have a G30 540i and will replace it with either a G60 540i, M560e or M5 touring. Notice 2 of 3 are hybrids if they materialize for US customers so I’m not hung up on ICE, but I do want my sedan. The boss loves her X3 so I don’t need one.

It's not a huge difference, but it was enough where I couldn't buy a pre-LCI F90 after I saw the LCI. It's currently the best looking car BMW makes, IMO. I might be biased though.

Totally agree. I could have a 7 or X5. I bought a 5 series because it’s what I want. I’ve driven a lot of SUV’s. I’m over it. I love the sedan and the 5 is perfect for what I want and what I need combined.

And I’m 38 years old.
