You're absolutely right.

If you look at all of the photos of the test mules, the trunk line has a steep slope upwards towards the rear glass...it definitely looks more fastback than traditional sedan profile...kind of awkward, but I'll reserve judgement until the reveal...

Ah right,

I assumed with it being an “I” model it was pure EV

But now looking at the i8 with its Mini engine and i3 with the range extender I can’t assume such things 😂

It’s alright. Nothing crazy, nothing terrible. Just kind of there.

Obviously this doesn’t necessarily represent the M sport or the full M version, but I sure hope those iterations add a lot more aggressiveness to the next gen 5er.

It seems like it has a lot of 2023 Honda Accord styling cues. Cars beginning to look alike coming out of a wind tunnel?

The i5 will be electric only but it's based on the upcoming next gen 5 Series which will get the usual gasoline engines.

Next gen M5 will get the same hybrid system the XM has.

I'm not a fan myself... but I will say that my i4 has less scratches in/around the handle than any of my previous cars (X7 included, and I have only had the current one for 3 months longer than the i4). Not from me, but the ladies in my life tend to have nails/rings/etc., and the cups behind the handles have been a bit of a mess... so there's at least some practicality behind it.

Why an electric car needs such a huge hood with that much of overhang? Looks like you can fit 12 cylinder there! And im pretty sure there is no frunk.

What do you mean? There'll obviously be like 540i, 530e, M5 and etc etc respectively.

I’m hoping it’s just an awkward angle because I’m seeing that too and not a fan of it.

This is still the same platform that the new gasoline based 5 series will be on. They still need the large front end to, yes, fit the engines in there.

I'm going to destroy my older brother's tesla Street Fighter II style and surprise him with a brand new i5.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. I gave my car it's second hand wash over the weekend and admired the lack of scratches around the door handle.

I did not admire the door ding an elderly woman left on the car though, luckily it's small and should be an easy repair.

Awkward angle? The design and proportions are fucking awkward.

All this controversial shit that BMW keeps swinging is starting to feel like a really bad trip on shrooms.

Make it end please. 😵‍💫🫤

I like what I see so far and it makes me worried because if an M5 Touring comes to US there are some big and painful decisions I may need to make!
