how can it possibly make financial sense when some Uber driver uses the new 540i???

how can it possibly make financial sense when some Uber driver uses the new 540i??? I saw one at the airport this morning. At first, I was wondering why the guy was parked there because it was for ride-share pick-up only. The guy rolled down the window and asked me "you ordered Uber? are you Cochran?" I said no because my Uber app showed the driver two miles from the airport.

I sat on a bench and waited. Then a man with a couple of kids got into that BMW 540i. Felt kind of jealous because my Uber driver showed up a minute later in a Honda Accord.

Does anybody know if someone driving a BMW 540i can charge more for the ride? (enough so that it actually makes the drive money?) I rarely take Uber and only took it today because I was on a same-day trip and renting a car would have been too much trouble.

No, they can’t charge more. He can have the car paid for as a business expense, though. He might not need to work, enjoys driving, and gets the entire cost of the vehicle as a tax deduction. I’ve thought about doing something like that when I retire. You just need to keep separate mileage logs as you can only deduct the percentage of car used for business.

Thanks! I never thought of it that way. When my 530i arrives next month, maybe I'll get a part time job as a Domino's driver just for fun. in 1988, I worked one summer as a Domino's driver and it was the most fun job I ever had. People were more generous back then.(also helped that I was a pretty good-looking kid when I was that young )

I believe they can charge more since Uber has different tiers - premium, comfort, Uber black - and with a more premium car they would be eligible under those categories.

I assume that there's no way for me to use the Uber app to specifically request a ride in a BMW 540i? (or any BMW, for that matter)

A BMW 540i would definitely be Uber Black.

I usually use Uber Black in Manhattan on business or vacation. It's really nice.

Afraid not, but if you choose Uber black you might have a better chance.

I've already had the pleasure. Luckily I was allowed to sit in the front. Everyone else didn't feel well afterwards!

RIP Sabine.

I rode in a BMW 520i on an UBER Comfort ride in London a couple of years ago.

I had a fancy Uber also but he had a new CT6. I chatted with the driver and he was clueless about life and finances. Nothing else to say.

I was in London for business last December and was picked up by an Uber driver in almost the mirror image of my own car at the time -- bluestone 530e, though obviously in right-hand drive. We had a great discussion about the BMW's we had owned -- he was a retiree driving for a few extra dollars and to keep busy.

Forget the uber ride, this right here is something to be jealous of.
