Garage List
What is your favorite iPod Playlist?

Something for the lighter side... what new playlist have you created on your iPod to listen to in your E90? I have a 1 hour (each way) commute, and like to listen to music on the drive home. I have a 2 hour playlist (lasts two commutes), called "Ultimate Drive":

War - Lowrider
Love & Rockets - So Alive
Aerosmith - Sweet Emotion
U2 - New Year's Day
Talking Heads - Burning Down The House, Life During Wartime
Audioslave - Like A Stone
Bad Company - Bad Company
Brother Cane - And Fools Shine On
The Cars - Moving In Stereo (still picture Phoebe Cates coming out of that pool every time)
Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus
Collective Soul - Gel
Deep Purple - Highway Star
Filter - Hey Man Nice Shot
Foghat - Fool For The City
Iggy Pop - Real Wild Child
Jet - Are You Gonna Be My Girl
Joe Walsh - Rocky Mountain Way
Led Zeppelin - When The Levee Breaks (has to be at least one Zep tune in any playlist!)
White Stripes - Seven Nation Army
ZZ Top - La Grange
Rush - Red Barchetta
Rolling Stones - Can't You Hear Me Knocking
Romeo Void - Never Say Never
Missing Persons - Destination Unknown
Live - Pain Lies On The Riverside

I've got 4 play lists that I like to listen to:

(1) "Drive Hard" -- all high energy techno with a thumping beat
(2) "Mellow Drive" -- slow folksy stuff like Nora Jones, Jack Johnson, Coldplay, Dido and stuff like that.
(3) "Sing-along" -- just a bunch of songs that I know the words to and like to sing (or scream) along with... including a bunch of 80's stuff, Erasure, Kelly Clarkson, and showtunes (Avenue Q, Rent, etc). Yes, this is my uber-gay playlist... and I LOVE it!
(4) Podcasts -- usually listen to Al Frankin, or some tech-geek stuff.

I don't have an iPod, but I plan to get one. For now, my phatbox will have to suffice in my VW.

Basically, what I'm going to be listening to on my iPod (when I get an E90) will be Dream Theater and not much else.

Okay, fine, some classical. Some Linkin Park. Some token fun-time stuff for dancing, etc. I'm sure I'll have a bunch of other stuff on there just in case the mood hits me, but it won't.

I normally use shuffle on my iPod. Can't wait to get my new 330i to try out the iPod.

To me it does. However, it really depends on what's your bitrate. I always stick with 192kbps for my mp3 conversion if I am ripping from CDs. For Itunes, I don't think you have a choice, its going to be 128kbps AAC format.

With these settings, the quality from ipod is great. Don't worry about getting good quality 1/8"s. The cheapie ones will do fine, just buy the shortest cables. And unless you are uber audiophile, you can spend extra $$ on the gold-plated cables as well.

Yes, you DO have a choice.
Open iTunes-preference-importing
you can change bitrate with 'setting' menu. I stick to 192k AAC and it's better than 192k mp3, I think. AAC is known for its good compressibility(smaller size than mp3's) and preserving the CD quality. Try 'Lossless' encoding if you want exanct same quality as the CD's. The file size would be huge; 40Mega for 3min. song.. maybe.

almost all the stuff I have taken from the net is 128 so I guess it will be a little less then CD quality.

I was wondering if I should even get an iPod, since i can burn mp3 cd's no navi car. Each cd can fit about 130 songs. But it would be great to have all my music with me.
