one thing I did notice for sure is that my ambient lighting super bright now very noticeable I had to turn it down I love it now I have the standard ambient lighting this made it much better

Did you just ask the dealer to update the software or was there another reason for the visit? I'd love to get the parking assistant pro fixed if I can just go to the dealer and ask them to update the software.

Also, did they charge you for the labor to update the software?

well my car was in for the service bulletin don't have the exact details paper is in the car but I believe it was reprogramming of the fuel pump. but the service adviser said any programming of any module will automatically update t the latest firmware and there was no charge.

But if you go in for just a firmware update they might charge but I'm not sure
have them do the service bulletin then it will update during that process

Maybe I need to get that done. My Bluetooth has completely stopped working, my iconic glow grille turns itself off for no reason and it’s lost other settings as well. My digital key still works, though.

try soft reset holding the volume button down for 70 sec? maybe that will fix the Bluetooth. it will reboot twice then release. may be a trip to the dealer could just be software

True, but the answer is simply no. Software updates can only be performed under warranty when you have a warrantable defect that requires programming. Anything else is simply on the dealers dime. Techs like to get paid so nobody is doing this for free. Case by case basis depending on your relationship with dealer and management but very unlikely they will update you without a real reason.

Fair enough, and makes sense. I guess the only hope is that until you've picked up the car you have a little leverage. But probably the best approach is to tell them why you want it. The newest release sounds like it fixes and issue with getting parking assistant pro so maybe you can use that as a reason.

I had my iDrive controller replaced today at the dealership because my original one was delivered with a sharp edge sticking out of the controller knob. Since they couldn't replace just the knob, they had to replace the whole iDrive electronics in the center console. As a result, I am now on version 03/2024.42 and can finally subscribe to the Parking Assistant Professional (which I did).

Based on the description below, I'm not sure what added functionality it provides because it sounds like it already does what's described in the screenshot, but I guess I'll find out. Does anyone remember what additional functionality the Pro gives you? I think one of the features was the ability to save a specific parking entry and exit that you can repeat upon command, but I'm not sure. I'll have to play with it this week to confirm.

When I signed up it gave a number of payment options from a monthly subscription fee to a permanent one-time fee (about $220 for the lifetime fee). I chose the 3 month free trial option for $0. After that I can decide which subscription model to pick or to pay the one-time price for the permanent feature. I remember they also had a three-year fee (I suppose for those leasing and planning to return the vehicle at the end). Lots of options.

Parking assistant professional adds a number of features including remote control parking through the app. It also allows automated parking in spaces with just lines and no cars on either side. Plus requires cars on either side for automated parking. It also allows you to record longer paths which the car can then execute autonomously such as driving into or backing out of a driveway or garage.

Thanks! It's all coming back to me now. :-) I subscribed but it's still "activating" in the car, so I'll play with it later this week.

Mine expired and as expected, it’s not yet showing up in the Connected Drive store. Sounds as though the new iDrive update may fix this, interesting to see when that is launched OTA.

A number of us had talked about this in a separate thread a couple months ago. Parking Assistant Pro was rolled back and won’t work on 11/2023.XX anymore. My 3 months Pro trial expired two days ago (I’m on 11/2023.73) and today Pro was removed from the car and the app. No more remote parking option in app.

I had emailed BMW last week as I couldn’t purchase the 3 year option. They replied with:

We apologize for the inconvenience.

At this time purchase for Parking Assistant Professional online is not available. We apologize for sending the reminder prior to the features availability in store. Vehicle will be eligible for this purchase once the latest Remote Software Upgrade is released and downloaded into the vehicle. The latest Remote Software Upgrade is planned to be released this Spring.

I assume the 3/2024 version will go out soon if the dealer has it. Or I’ll just go to the dealer and ask them for it. That said, to even get Pro to work on my trial period, I had to go to the dealer for the latest 11/2023 version at that time. Said Activating for a week. Took the dealer to get it to work with a new software version.

FYI, not sure if you saw my post in another thread earlier but the Parking Assistant Professional did activate fine in the car earlier today so I will be able to try it out this week. :-) Not sure what is taking yours so long to activate - maybe it will work once you get the latest updated software in the car. I have 03/2024.42.

FYI, I have 11/2023.47 and Parking Assistant Professional is activated and working fine. Not sure if it makes a difference, but I paid for the full upgrade without going through a trial first.

Yes, mine was working fine on the same version until the trial period expired. It seems that you can’t go in and buy/renew without the update now. Honestly, no big deal as I used it infrequently.
