Anyone seen those black plastic vents on front and rear bumpers painted body color?

Particularly the lower air intake surround in the front bumper. Seems like a lot of black plastic. Has anyone seen them painted?

I haven't, but that's an interesting thought. The only thing I've seen are the body colored reflector inserts for the bumper that let you pop out the orange US required ones, and replace them with something more muted.

One thing I am curious about though, as I wait for my G60 to arrive; All of that black shiny plastic stuff, either on the front bumper or the rocker panels...how is it holding up to daily life? Especially in States that have frequent snow, that require salt, cinders, and general awfulness to keep cars on the road?

I'm going to have the G60 PPF'd. I'm on the fence about doing the rocker panels, though.

1) Outer part (the most eggregious): 51115A6A42
2) The inner part (which could stay black or might be interesting colored): 51118084629

Removal of the original parts might break a lot of the clips on it so it might be a one way operation, requiring installation of the new part because the old might not attach well again. Unclear if the bumper has to come off to be able to release clips from behind.

I don’t get it. Why did they need 4 separate interlocking pieces of plastic that for all intent and purpose appear to just screw into each other in a “stack”. This reminds me of a Lego kit. 😂

So just to be clear: 5,6,7,8 are just different front license plate holders. It’s just the two pieces 1, 2 that nest together onto the large front bumper piece. It’s pretty common to have the bars of the grill be a seperate piece of plastic attached to the bumper. What’s strange is the piece 1 which is this large plastic surround piece to top off the whole thing that my previous BMW 5’s have not had.

I've seen the area around piece #4 the color of the body paint. Those are only on either China or India models I think.

See the photos at this link for example.

I originally planned to buy the car and paint part #1 myself. But now I’m going to lease it so nope. I agree there’s too much black up there.
