So I have opted for the three months trial of the parking assistant professional and welcome light animation via iPhone app and in the car it shows activating but nothing has kicked in…. How long does it take to “activate” the programs?? Anyone with experience?

I bought the parking and the traffic camera monitoring last night. The email says go to system settings and update apps and services. I did that, and it said nothing to update. I will try to figure it out tomorrow, or call the Genius line on Tuesday.

Park assistant professional finally looks like it’s completed. Took a few days. It shows “record a path” now. I’ll try it out to see.

As to the lights it was $50 so I thought I would try it. Not sure what it does.

My park assist loaded today. When we went to the grocery store, it had a prompt to look for a space. Didn’t try it out yet. My animations haven’t loaded yet, but I bought those today. It said allow 24 hours for it to update.

Where did you guys see the animations? I’m not getting that as an option to purchase, just the parking assistant professional and traffic camera packages.

My car already had the parking assistant plus, but it’s showing in the connected drive store. It’s also showing the welcome light animation, but every 5 series comes with that, so what’s the deal? Can anyone help clear things up for me?

I thought the same, but think it might have been a 1-mo teaser or something. As I pressed the parking button and didn’t see the “record” option recently.

I’m adding it now - 3mo for $0, so will try it out anyway

Looking online, professional which is monthly includes the saved maneuvers, which plus included in the premium pack does not. I assume the welcome lights for $50 would include being able to customize the carpet design. Will look into that more later.

You’re right cabbage - I got the executive/premium package which includes parking plus, but this is parking pro. If there’s one thing I dislike about BMW it’s how they offer all these different options with very similar but slightly different names.

No, it's not. What is in the connected store is Parking Assistant Pro. The Parking Assistant Plus is what comes with the Premium and Executive packages. Parking Assistant plus has all the hardware that is required for Parking Assistant Pro but not the remote control parking and drive path recording features that Pro includes.

I’m waiting to find that “pro” just makes right hand turns, and if I want left hand turns, I’ll need “pro plus”…..

Thanks for clarifying, plus is all I need, in NYC, professional is pretty useless. Love the self parking and 360 cameras. No need for stores maneuvering nor remote control parking.

I purchased the $225.00 Parking Assistant Professional upgrade for the i5. It basically brings the feature up to par with the package on the i7. I gained the ability to record parking maneuvers and use the MyBMW app to remotely park the car. I do find the remote feature useful, because I'm sometimes just short of the length of the charging cable; it's so nice to be able to move the car from outside.

The other feature I love is the Backup Assistant. When I park on a long driveway, it remembers the path I drove and reverses along the same path by itself. Such a great feature!

I'm also curious as to what the Welcome Light animation looks like.

I too am curious to find out what the parking light animation does. I was hoping to find a video demonstration of it, but so far no luck.

My understanding is pro also allows self parking with only parking lines but no cars in adjacent spaces while the lower tier plus requires cars on either side to self park (at least for perpendicular parking).

Yes that’s true it’s able to park in the lines without there being a car there. And your able to choose between two spots if there available.

I had the parking package pro trial for 3 months. I recorded the path to my garage, but every time I try to let it auto-park, the car says the environment is too dark, or something is blocking the path. Now I'm debating on if I should pay the $225. I like the remote control, but the path recording does not seem to work for me.

That’s what I’m interested to see - will it auto park in my driveway. If not, then I may not pony up for the long haul.

Mine works perfectly I love it. I forgot how to park in my garage lol. But if there is to much of a incline it won’t do it. Even when my Tesla is off center of it’s parking spot it will Adjust.

My welcome lights are now activated, but it doesn’t do anything except flash the lights. I assumed there was a way to configure the flash speed, but I can’t find it anywhere.
