Well, I ordered a 5’er thread His just moved into shipping today. My original production date was 9-11. I’m hoping we’re going to see an exodus this week. We are all in the same boat, as we each have no idea why our vehicles have remained in Quality Check. Last edited by ToddRGuy; 10-14-2024 at 06:38 PM.. |

I suspect it has taken a while for the fact that the recall only extends to the 4th to filter down to cars actually moving again. Also probably compounded by the lack of boats leaving for the US.
I believe they will have just put a blanket stop on all all affected models whilst they ascertain WTF has happened (This is what my dealer tells me). I believe from looking on the NHTSA site from the UK that there is affected part numbers so it isn't every vehicle of a model line produced within that time frame. So I am praying that once they clarify this in the UK my car will be released sharpish, and I hope that your cars face no further delays once they hit the ship! |

Just talked to my sales rep, he said there’s a chance I’d get the car I order quicker than the on lot vehicle (which is crazy) also that the parts for other vehicles are coming in, it’s just the 5 series that’s being held up (at least with them)

That is pretty crazy. Considering I ordered my car and got a production ID on July 6th, and it still hasn’t been delivered and (according to BMW) wasn’t impacted by either recall. What date of delivery is he estimating? May 2025?

I mean, it’s not that it isn’t possible. But just improbable. Shipping alone is 15-20 day, plus time at the VSC, transit to the dealer and the dealers PDI. Factor 30 days for all of that.
This does not include wait time at the port before it gets on a ship. Which is incredibly variable. A few days to few weeks. There are 71 days before Christmas. Not considering transport, this gives them 41 days to obtain an allocation, schedule it for production, make it, prepare it for transport and get it to the port, and have it go on a ship. Maybe if they altered an existing allocation that they already have scheduled for production to your specifications? Even then that’s an aggressive timeline. I would mentally prepare yourself in advance that this timeline is likely going to slip. |

Oh gosh, I know. This whole thing has been a massive shit show. My car has been sitting in “Quality Check” for 5 weeks with no recalls. It’s been a disappointing experience thus far.

This makes me feel bad for even complaining, I haven’t even signed my deal or ordered yet - I can imagine how frustrated you are. I need to figure out what to do about a car until this is sorted out! |

This is my first BMW (Way to make an impression) but at least I have a low mileage Audi A5 to drive in the interim. I would probably be more stressed out if transportation was a problem to sort out. I think the most disappointing part has been, having the production experience sour, over time, going from something I was actually excited about, to something that has been dragging on for months. I really hope that this phase doesn’t make me emotionless at the time I take delivery, being more happy that it’s over, than enjoying what’s on the road ahead of me. |

I personally would not buy a i5m60 or any other BMW that has been on the lot allowing potential customers to take if for a test drive. This means heavy throttling, improper breaking-in of the drivetrain and breaking system, etc etc. This should all be up to you to do with an actual brand new car, the right way IMO. I personally have put the vehicles on dealer lots through their paces and gone full-bore to test them out, breaking hard, crank the sound to its hearable limits, etc etc. And I know I'm not the only one that does this...

Order placed July 1, production started July 15, car arrived at Port Jersey on 8/26. That is the last update I have received on my I5 M60. No mention of either recall until I mentioned it, neither by the dealer or BMW geniuses. The only update ever given is that they hope the car will be in soon. This whole situation has been handled horrendously. I sold my old car under the assumption it would arrive in the first week of September.

I dropped by the dealership today to talk with my Sales Rep.
He is a very nice guy and I have known him for over 25 years. I asked him last week to see if he could get any answers out of his Zone Manager. He has gone back to him twice now and today's response was "I received an email from the regional manager this morning stating he reminded them, but he is still waiting for their response." Not the reply you want to hear from the guy who BMW pays to help out the dealerhips Up until today I was under the impression that my car was here in BC. I was following it on the BMW Canada track my car App My rep can't get the same information as I was getting (never a good sign) and then he looked at me and said, "I think that your car may still be in Europe." For a moment I thought oh well this is such a cluster maybe I will switch to European Delivery and see what driving in Europe is like, We keep a motorcycle there and have put a little over 40,000 KMS riding 2 -up. Then I remembered that BMW Canada stopped the European Delivery program. So the dealership has the part for the first and only recall on my car. Recall Campaign No. 2024-456: Intergrated Brake System (34 82 24RC) Database last updated: October 15, 2024 My rep looked on every system dealers have and my car doesn't show up anywhere. I asked about ordering a new 530 iX and starting afresh but the dealership doesn't have a 5 series build allocation until March. In this market they sell mostly SUVs. My Plan. So.....I have given up on the zone guy and now will write a nice letter to Andrew Scott President and CEO, BMW Group Canada, and ask for his assistance in providing me with the status and location of my car and to answer my qustions. Any help from the forum on the type of questions would be most appreciated. Obviously, I want to know if my car is going to be part of the steering U-joit recall. Where my car is physically residing at present and what the ETA to my dealerhip is. What BMW if going to do to help accomodate customers that are in the same situation that I am in. No car and no car. What kind of compensation will BMW be providing to affected parties such as myself? For example extening the warranty to the maxium years/miles available at no charge or at a substantially reduced cost Rental car credit during the extended delay Will BMW Canada allow people to walk from their deal and get there deposit back? ...and so it goes. |
