Rolex Oystersteel Daytona - 116500LN

This watch Rolex Daytona, Oystersteel with Black dial, Ref# 116500LN is hot commodity.

Daytona people: how long is the waiting time? I am on the wait-list as of last month and do not want to pay premium in secondary market, asking for $20-$23K for it. Where msrp is $12,4K.

I read blogs/forums and some are noting 3-5 years.

I put my deposit in April... suppose to get it June but maybe a month or so after since shipments to the AD’s probably have been slower.

Personally I wouldn’t pay above msrp... don’t need the watch that bad.

Spoke with many AD. Only repeat customer who are buying 3+ watches are getting them is what I've been told.

I received mine within in Nov 2016 so about a 8 month wait after Basel announcement. The local AD here are not even taking names anymore. Last I heard the wait time is at least 5 years. Keep in mind the AD don't get many daytona a year so the wait time adds up quickly. Rolex Canada told their dealers any of the high demand pieces can only be sold to trusted clients that have a history and not a flipper (not sure how they can guarantee that).

Yes but I didn't hang around as soon as that watch was showcased and being a returning customer works .The latter only works to a point though for such hard to find watches otherwise I could have waited many years

I bought mine (black face and bezel, exactly like the picture in the OP) on the gray market. Brand new. Paid $1500 premium over retail.

I initially put my name on the "list" at my AD, but it was 9 pages long, so why wait. $1500 now vs waiting for who knows how long. Life is short. I figure the watch will be retailing for that or more by the time I get to buy it from the AD......

BTW, I wear it everyday, including to the gym, work, etc. Never comes off my wrist except when I am sleeping....I smile every time I look at it. The bracelet sure is scuffed, but the crystal and bezel perfect.

Oh, my purchase was a one off private party deal. Just got lucky I suppose. Had it authenticated at AD. Have the original receipt, the box, papers, warrranty card, etc.

Good luck and I hope you find one. 👍

I have been very fortunate not to wait for a Daytona SS blk dial. My AD has always come through for me, on 2 occasions. My first had the Zenith movement. Great looking, no doubt; however, not practical for my lifestyle. I am a SS Sub Date guy.

Try to maintain good relations with your AD.

Sorry, didn't update my post.
My AD surprised me last month and had my Daytona in less than 2 months.

Strong and close relationship with AD is must

Its hard if there is no "strong" relationship with Rolex Authorized Dealer. Otherwise, wait time is 1-2 years.

If I can get a new one from AD, is anyone interested in buying it? If it's 12.4k, I'll sell for 15.4k

I got both a black and a white face within a matter of months.

If anyone is willing to pay $20k let me know.

Thank you ,

Wow! That much of a market adjustment! I never realized this happens with watches too.

Interesting what a strong economy does.

For those who followed watches during the ecnomic crisis 10 years ago, what happened with prices in this range?
