Truth. It is supply/demand though. There are DECADES of research behind this, trust me. Women own more watches - they tend to be more about the fashion. Women tend to not care as much about the mechanicals and more about the aesthetics. Now, these are gross generalizations and there have been some VERY cool mechanical innovations in women's watches lately. They are a little too froufrou for me, yet... but some very cool stuff. This is one of my favorites (and yes, it is a Vacheron), but it is nicely done, a reasonable 36mm, and the movement is a VERY nice Geneva sealed manual movement. Then the other one (if you swap out the hideous purple strap) is also a new and great ladies piece - an automatic, also Geneva sealed). I may actually like the aesthetic of it better overall.

They are both (considerably) more than $12,000 though.

Yep - and the level of finish is impeccable. The stars and moon are applied white gold... nothing painted on this watch. And the hands are white gold finished matte on one side and polished on the other. They usually only do that with platinum watches, but they did it in white gold here. Applied indices. A really nice, high-end finish and great movement on a ladies watch. (OK, I'll stop now.)

The moon phase is a manual wind, so no rotor. Here is the case back (although on the yellow gold model).


The Harmony (the cushion shaped one) is a special treat. This model year is a limited edition release, so (as it is an automatic and has a rotor) it's rotor is engraved with a Fleurisanne pattern used on the founder's first watches in 1755. A very cool thing and the engraving will be dropped when it goes into regular production.

OK - last one... promise. This one is the manual wind tourbillon chronograph - platinum and limited to 26 pieces. Retail for 310,000 Euro. Heh. Seriously though, check out the movement! While it has no rotor, they did the engraving on the tourbillon cock (yes, I know... huh huh huhuhuh he said cock). Grail.
