Ol' Grumpy there is saying he only knows of a few people who have conceal carry permits and that it is extremely rare to get them, and you are just stating the legislation which would permit such a permit, which underscores how rare it would be to get one.

No, what I meant was that the only 2 reasons to carry a firearm would be for your work or for the protection of life. I was under the impression that Grumpy Old Man knew of people that got permits under the protection of life clause - I was curious as to the circumstances where police would admit that they are unable to offer sufficient protection.

Without getting into the specifics a person would have to demonstrate reasonable and probable grounds to believe that there was a real threat and that the police supported the need to carry. On the very rare occasion these permits get issued they are time bound rather than open ended.

I do. I like toast not warmed bread ike most north americans seem to prefer. Plus, if having english crumpets i like them quite dry, so max it is, and I have a fuck off hot toaster.

Me too on the toast thing. I think I'm the only person I know who steams crumpets and has them with butter and syrup......

I was wondering if it was something along the lines of "im gonna testify against a mob boss and they're gonna wack me" type of deal or something more ambiguous. I guess what I'm asking is what type of danger threshold one must meet in order to be given a permit.

Sorry, I don't always get all the internet short forms. Threats against judges sometimes meets the threshold.

I was just about to mention judges and jp's as I have been told by colleagues that some judges carry, I never believed it a 100% until now.

It used to be more common, now very few and like I said the permits are usually time bound.
