Just took my golden for a mountain hike, around 3 miles worth. When we got home I decided to give him a shower and he’s usually good at standing while I spray and scrub him but he was so worn out it was like trying to shower a dead dog

I'm not one to dress up my dogs but sometimes it's needed for short hair breeds when there is snow/ice and sustained sub-zero temps (excl wind chill). Baxter has soft paws that had a tendency to bleed in the cold. His paw pads have toughened up but are still a bit tender.

For those of you who have anxious pets, what has your vet given to them?

We just brought the dog to the vet we rescued and he gave him acepromazine and trazadone. He was in 4 different places within 2 weeks and his anxiety when someone leaves is through the roof. We know he will settle in but as of now we can't even kennel train him because of his anxiety/fear. We expect this to calm down as he gets used to our home and is comfortable.

One of our dogs goes bananas over fireworks (sound or sight) of any kind, even from a far distance. The vet gave us diazepam (valium) for him. It helps a little but does eliminate the anxiety.

A good friend of mine had a pit bull that was terrified of fireworks. Also thunder. She would start to shake, knew it was coming way before it started. They also gave her valium. It helped but didn’t eliminate the anxiety. Those weighted blankets/jackets helped.

We tried a “thunder shirt” for thunder but it didn’t help so we returned it. He’s getting better with thunder, but fireworks are bad. I find it best to just let him go to wherever he feels safe, usually a bathroom.

Well, what had happened was😂🤦🏼*♀️ I'm just a sucker. My heart breaks for these animals. The puppy wasn't available which was a blessing in disguise. We met him and whoever owned him had trained him. He was so docile just hanging around. It's us leaving and the kennel that has him in a tizzy. He did amazing in the kennel while we were out celebrating National Margarita Day.

Do you have one to recommend? We gave pet cbd to our pup that passed away almost 2 years ago and can't remember the name of the one we used. I will also do some research to see what's out there. Thanks!

I use NuLeaf Naturals, https://nuleafnaturals.com, they make some real high quality and full spectrum stuff. You can get like 20% off if you use the code standup911(not my code, I earn nothing from it)

Smile

Daily dose of cuteness...
Our new little puppy has been exceptionally easy to potty train and get on a night time sleeping schedule.

Very cute!

We have a female and we call that "empress-ing," since she's the royal highness and she's waiting to be fed. lol
