Lol. I don't remember which one but it was an IPA from Stone. I may as well have been sucking on a mouthful of pennies. It was terrible!

One of my favourites I discovered in Germany a few years ago. It's called Kostritzer. It's a schwarzbier or black beer. Unfortunately I can't get it here but it is available at the LCBO in Ontario. I stock up every time I visit friends in T.O. or Ottawa and they are under strict instructions to fill their car when they come this way. It's been too long with the Covid lockdowns.

I'm big on stouts and porters in the colder months. Introduce nitro and I will probably like it even more.
Coming into the warmer months, I find more pale ales and pilsners in my fridge. Probably one of my favorite "working beers" is Founder's All Day IPA. Good flavor, but I can crush a few doing work out in the yard without being found face down in a flower bed the next morning. Just picked up a 15 pack this morning in fact. |

That reminds me of a beer I tried a couple of years ago at one of my locals. They started carrying a new craft brewers offerings. I won't mention the name because my "review" was not ummm...complimentary. It was an IPA (just for the record I enjoy IPAs as a rule) and I could not get past the first taste. After a few minutes the bartender asked if the beer was ok. Of course I told her I didn't like it and ordered a different beer. She asked me to describe the flavour so she could tell others if they were curious. She let out quite a snort when I told her it tasted like someone boiled a spruce tree and bottled the residue.

You're the first person I've ever heard mention "working beer" outside of a few of my friends. My "working beer" is Busch beer for precisely the same reason. A half dozen Busch and it's like I've been drinking Kool-aid. Once the chores are finished I'll grab a beer that's got some real flavour and relax.

Hands down my personal favorite beer. Lone Pint Jabberwocky Imperial IPA. Best kept to only two bottles as I think the calorie count on these is about 500 each not to mention an ABV of 8.5%. I've found smoking a cigar helps to stretch out the sipping so I don't over speed my drinking.

A friend's father kept a beer fridge in his garage. Anyone that came over to visit was welcome to keep their beer in it. His beer however was on the floor beside the fridge, never in it. He would open a bottle and wrap his right hand around it and then tuck it under his left arm so that it would stay warm. He couldn't stand a cold beer.

Founders Blushing Monk. Hands down. I haven't been able to find it down here in SC, but when I go to MI in a couple weeks will hopefully be able to snag some. Belgian raspberry ale.
